I have a 1990 Maxima and the digital dash will not come on until it feels like it. During this time the dash is entirely dark, the HUD, and cruise control do not work, plus it does not record mileage. I have checked all of my connections and they are tight. I asked my dealer and they said spend $1,500.00 on a new dash so any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem

I also have a 1990 Maxima with the digital dash. I noticed that it sometimes does not work in cold weather, then will come on when the engine heats up.

You can, I did it on my 1990gxe but it wasn't easy. It is time consuming but it can be done. However some of your gauges will not be accurate.
My temp guage would stay at the quarter mark when the engine is warm and the fuel guage will be off by ALOT. For the fuel guage you will need a SE fuel level transmitter(or pump assembly).
Also you clock will be disabled. It might be easy to reconnect it to something else but i never tried.
The speedometer was fairly accurate and so was the tach.
All you need to do this is the wiring diagram(s) for the SE and gxe digital clusters.
