Car cuts out in the midlle of the road
Hey guys,
Well this is my first thread and I hope this is not a repost ( I don't think so). It happened 3 times already( 2 times last spring and 1 other time today). The problem is descreibed as follow.
Today (very rainy day)
While I was driving at around 80 KM and slowing down to a traffic light, the car completely shut-off after the engine was kind of hesitating. I noticed the RPM going very low and coming back up to normal idle at the speed I was at and then nothing, I could no go forward anymore. So I tried to restart the car and the engine would not turn over, it would crank but no start. So I put my hazard signals on at the traffic light and go and call work to advise that I will be late and a towing. Fortunetely, I forgot my wallet in my car so I go back to get some money to call. I say to myself I will try another time and bingo, the car restarts and I was able to get to work.
Last spring,
After going trough a big puddle of water as the snow was melting, same thing happened.
A few days later it happened again, but never did over the summer
My thoughts:
The splash guard which is located underneath of of the belt has been broken somehow and I think that when alot of water gets to the belt, it makes it slip which stops the engine . Can anybody help me out on that one

So I brought my car to the garage to diagnose my weird problem. After a scan of the computer they found nothing. The car was acting normal, so I pay for the diagnostic and when I go to back up my car out of the shop, it would not start as it did a few days ago. Turn out that there is no pressure in the gas line.
So the garagist is now checking the relays of the fuel pump, since it is sometimes getting fuel (when strarting) and runs well when running so he said it could not be the fuel pump.
My question is, is the guy doing the right thing or she he be checking for other things,
By the way, distributor cap, rotor, and sparkplug wire all healthy.

Fuel pump is fairly cheap and easy repair. I'd replace + wait'n'see
I'm gonna say oxygen sensor, I had the same problem in wet weather or after driving through deep puddles... Turns out the O2 sensor in my y-pipe had both wires completely exposed, so whenever it got wet it would cause the car to go haywire and hesitate/almost stall.
Check it out, it's directly under the car in the center, sticking out of the y-pipe. Check the condition of the wires, and if you never replaced it at all, consider replacing it anyway, it's pretty cheap and a good mantainence job to do.

Maybe water in your gas tank from the gas station, Was a tanker at the station when you filled up last?, It happens all the time, car will run fine then quit, wait a while, it will run fine again until ALL the water is sucked out of the tank and fuel lines, just a thought.
