VG Autocrpatic

Alright.

So I got my transmission rebuilt about 4k Miles ago on a 1994 VG. It's already had it rebuilt in 1996 A year after we got the car around 60k miles and drove it to around 90k, then it sat for a while up until two years ago, and has had 40k put on it, totalling about 131,000, and as stated, the most recent rebuild (grand totalling $2200) was around 127,000 Miles.

Sorry, but had to get the story part out of the way, now here's the problem.

The car has driven alright since the new tranny, but I'll notice jittering/shaking/vibration when climbing hills or something (I know the engine isn't missing) And more recently, like within the past week, It wouldn't go into Drive all the way, (I can rev it and it barely moves) my Overdrive won't kick in, and today I had no final gear at all, it would get up to about 40 and then just rev the rest of the way. Finally got it to kick in after about 10 minutes of messing with the transmission. The transmission is still under warranty, and contrary to what it looks like, My family and I don't drive this car that hard; if at all.

In your opinion, should we get the transmission rebuilt again, or try to get him to just swap a 5spd out of a Junkyard VE? It's making me crazy because the engine is so strong and dependable, but these transmissions are ****!@! What do you think is wrong with it? Just a crappy rebuild?

Thanks in Advance, And sorry for the long post, it's my first thread starter.

Na just a ****y transmission. Really sorry yo, as it sounds like you really like your maxima.

IMO
1.) Get a VG5spd maxima, drive it.
2.) Get said VG5spd, and swap the tranny into yours
3.) Get a VE 5spd, drive it, and love it
4.) Get a different car

Yeah, I would love to have a 5 speed in there. A VE 5 Speed Would be optimal since I want to mod it (slightly) But finding one in my price range, in good as condition is mine is going to be a hard thing to do. I guess I'll have them rebuild the transmission again as it's under warranty for about 6 more months, Then start looking for VE's (as my car will have a slightly higher resale value with a working transmission, or a Junker I can steal the 5 speed from to throw in mine.

Getting a non-maxima car isn't an option

yeah, as much as it sucks rebuilding the trans, or f-it a used one, is the best option and then sell it.
I did the rebuilt option on my old minivan, sold it and bought a newer one

So I've pretty much narrowed down the Stuttering and Shaking Down to CV Axle's. Even more so now because when I turn I get a nice clicking from my drivers side front wheel.

But the problem still remains of having my overdrive not kick in and no final gear unless it's under heavy accelleration. (When the Engine is Cold)

Also, should I replace the entire CV Axle? Or are there bearings or something I should replace first?

Thanks in Advance...

well there is a sensor that tells you ECU that you're trannsmission is at the right tempature to be able to go into or out of over drive.

Oh yeah? Hmm...

Do you know the location of it, and if it can be cleaned or not? Keep in mind overdrive doesn't just not kick on, it actually freely revs once I get past 3rd gear.
