Need help transmission fluid pan crack

I just noticed a leak in the transmission pan . I let my brother borrow my car and this is what I get any way I was wondering if the SE and GXE have the same size pan? I have a 92 SE auto.
Please let me know, also is it a DIY straight bolts and a new gasket:?

I'm not sure but i think they do. If you have the other pan just match them up and see if they are the same. If they are, then it would be a straight DIY job. Just make sure that you put the magnet in the new pan (most of the time there is a magnet in the pan to remove iron particles from the transmission fluid).

Good Luck!

i can't answer your question 100% but i've never read of multiple models of automatics for the 3rd gen max. on the bold assumption that the filter is accessed through the pan, i would strongly suggest you replace it as well while you have the pan out.

are you 100% that the pan has cracked? jus seems like a rare thing to have happen versus a gasket leaking..

92 SE auto would obviously have a VE tranny and any GXE would come with a VG tranny. From what I've read/heard is that the VE auto is the only tranny thats different from all the others bolt-on-wise. so I dont know know about the pan. Have you tried the JY or eGay?

the 92-up DOHC use an RE4F04A transmission, the pan runs about $20 new at the dealer.
There is a replaceable screen that can be accessed when the pan is removed.
the SOHC trans is a totally different animal. not parts interchange that I am aware of.

Exactly as Brian said..
the VG auto's 'pan' actually fits on the top of the tranny, and there's no actual pan on the bottom.

the VE does have a pan at the bottom. part number 31390-80X05. Nissanparts.cc lists it at 21.30 new. call your local dealer and they should be able to get you one fairly quickly if they don't have it in stock.
