Tokico Suspension Kit

Has anyone installed one of these?

It's the Tokico HPK341 Suspension Kit.

I am thinking about installing them and was wondering how they were (ride, handling, any suspension problems, etc...) and how much they lowered the car.

Are they pre-assembled? I figured it might actually save me some hassle as I wouldn't have to use a coil compressor.

Thanks,

If those are coilovers, then they aren't for the 3rd gen!

it's prolly a SNAFU on the part of that vendor. I'd say their picture is not for our car. Still though pretty cheap for springs and struts combo.

Tokico does have a part # for a strut and spring kit.
HOWEVER, it has not been released as of yet.
they are NOT coilovers.
They are NOT adjustable.

$372.00

http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/app/19a.html

They ARE for the 3rd gen.
They HAVE been released.

Dont know if they are pre-assembled as a complete unit. Vendor contact might might be best.

Don't know how they ride but I do know that Tokico's are OEM equipment on my 97SE (currently dead) and also my 00 I30. Replaced the I30 with GR'2 and I resent the "ride".

I do bel. that since BOTH the springs and shocks are manufactured by Tokico
that it MAY be better than some other aftermarket combos. Eg. progress springs paired KYB gr'2.

Hold on, hold on... HOLD ON!!! So, if I'm reading these links (as well as this entire thread) correctly, the HPK Tokico kit IS an adjustable "coilover" kit that DOES work on the 89-94 Maxima?? AND it's $372 for the entire set (front/rear)?? I'm calling them Monday (today is Sunday) for verification. But if THAT is the case, I think I'll just put off getting a body kit for a bit.

EDIT: Reading the website a bit further shows me that they are NOT adjustable...

I dont see the big deal here guys. It is probably just their spring sold with their existing strut. At best it will be a combo for the front fully assembled (doubt it) with an insert and seperate spring for the rear because of how our rear suspension is made. It is a cheap alternative to get a nice slight drop with matched springs so you dont blow the struts.

If I had a pretty much stock Maxima like my old 92GXE I think this would be ideal for a slight drop at a good price and would seriusly consider them. I just wouldnt put much hope in them being a fully assembled unit but you never know...they just might be. I will take a wait and see attitude.

actually it says 1.25 (you gotta have that .05 extra drop man )and the only thing we can do is take their word for it until someone decides to buy them.

The preferred but most $$ are the koni struts/eibach spings combo..1.2 inch drop

2nd would be intrax springs/koni/tokico struts...1.7 inch drop..

3rd and least $$ would be sprint springs/tokico strut combo..2 inch drop.

Pic of tokico/spring drop combo..

I am saying that the advertised drop means nothing because they are incorrect. You look at my pic and compare it to yours. You tell me which is lower.

Also I had Sprints on my car before I put my Intrax on and yes even in person the Sprints are not as low as the Intrax springs.

Truthfully, they look about the same to me...Take into account though,my wheels are 16" and tires are 205's...

These wheels look to be atleast 17"or better, which would tuck better under the wheel well right?

wheels make no difference because you are supposed to keep the same size diameter tire no matter what size wheel you run. My "tires" tucked with the 17s and 18s I had as well as the 15s that are on it now. with the Intrax you can not put a finger straight in the wheel well because you will hit the tire so you have to go up at an angle.

The biggest difference in the sprints though are the rears. The Sprint springs remind me of the old school rake because its higher in the back than the front where the Intrax are level.

Like I said though I had both and I could put probably a finger straight in with the sprints where the tires are tucked with the Intrax. That is a good half an inch difference at least and the main reason I never understood how Sprints could be rated lower than Intrax.

I will concede that the Sprint fronts are about the same as the intrax though so the main difference is just in the rear.

I am not saying the Sprints are bad springs just that they are not as low as they are rated and as a matter of fact not as low as springs that are not rated as low as them.

Intrax are as low as I would want to go and if I had a DD I wouldnt want anythign lower than Eibach or these new Tokicos.

So, what happened with these? Did anyone get them, or call about them? I need new Struts ASAP and don't have the $$ for Konis. Are these the way to go? I hear Tokicos blow out with Eibachs. Is that true?

I called Tokico a couple of weeks ago and asked them about this. Their response was (as Michael said) that this is a fully-assembled strut/spring combo, NOT a coilover unit. Still, not too bad.

Isn't the rear strut housing (permanently) attached to the spindle?

I am having a hard time picturing Tokico selling a pre-assembled spring/strut unit complete with rear spindle.
