it has been done by various members some used a little cutting and a little fiberglass guess it just depends on how different the kit is to our cars. i mean do you have a certain kit in mind. its not always a issue of whats available more so how much time money and work do you want to put into it to make it work.

Well, there ARE other kits that are actually MADE for the Maxima, besides the Stillen kit. There's Xenon, Sarona Designs, Kaminari - and I believe one more, but the name eludes me.

Stillen is the only one out there I think worth buying, and it's a easy kit to install. It's taken me a few months to get mine right. :P

do you have to make any cuts?

or just screw them in?

Stillen I think involves just a few rivets and 3m double back tape. I never put one one, someone else should chime in.

The Stillen kit doesn't involve any cutting. They do a great job of getting it right straight from the mold. ABS plastic is a huge advantage when it comes to a lip/body kit as well. Most people on this site who have a ground effects kit installed on their cars already have them lowered as well. Since 3G Maximas are reasonably low to begin with, adding lowering springs with a lip kit will have you driving slow over every incline for sure. Also, having a kit made from ABS plastic will reduce many headaches that fiberglass kits would bring...especially if you live in an area with snow and ice. All a fiberglass kit needs is one ice chunk falling off a semi on the highway and it's cracked for sure.

I just installed my stillen kit and all it needed was a little bit of sanding to remove plastic forming lines where the mold halves joined together, and some rivets, screws, and 3M red double sided tape. It went on really smooth, and actually would stay on by itself without anything if I just wrapped it around the bumper. Thats proof to Stillen's high quality design....and why they're def. the best choice IMO for our cars.

well to be fair that same chunk of ice will also break the urethane kit but the difference is that urethane is a lot harder to fix. Urethane flexes to an extent but it will indeed break. I have Craig B's lip because he hit something in the road and tore it up.

True....with fiberglass all you need to do is stop by autozone and by a little fiberglass kit for $20, then sand and repaint. I suppose the main advantages to the urethane kit would be shown in summer, when it can flex to its fullest potential. Everything plastic gets more brittle in winter months....Ice chunks on the highway are my biggest fear. I'm waiting for the day when one is too big to clear my drop and I just drag it along and it messes something up.

does this fiberglass kit from autozone include spray paint? and also will the paint match the SAME exact color as the car?

tell you what...you have permission to search...search to your hearts desire.

For the Stillen kit all you pretty much have to do is get some good double sided tape and screws (or rivets) to mount it. Since its urethane it HAS to be a good fit because there is no way to adjust it to make it fit. You still have to prep and paint it after its on though.

Everything I have ever messed with that was fiberglass had to be modified to fit by grinding some or actually adding a little fiberglass etc. What they were talking about for repairing it is a fiberglass kit you can buy from most places that includes fiberglass mat and resin. That is just the fiberglass though and after you repair the crack or break you still have to prep and paint it. They dont make kits with paint for a particular car so no the kit doesnt come with perfectly matching paint.

Paint is hard to get to match perfectly anyway especially with rattle can stuff.

sorry, i wasn't bashing you man. just reading that put an image of an all in one autozone rice kit in my head. it would probably actually sell pretty well. of course it wouldn't include matching paint, just primer. no offense goon..you do good work i don't really have room to talk though, considering i just resprayed by bumper with krylon "make it pearl"

TY micheal!!

installation sounds to be pretty straight forward..will consider a body kit later down the road, maybe in a month or 2 when i'm ready to do a complete sray over...that way i wont have to worry about color matching
