Maxima's OEM Anti Theft Alarm
Maxima's OEM Anti Theft Alarm
Ive been reading up on this anti theft alarm system, mine usually goes off if i leave the trunk open for sometime.
Are there other ways that trigger it?
I tried opening the door lock from outside but that didnt work.

Try letting your car sit for a few minutes and then try to do something to it. Then do the same thing to it and it will go off magically.
Seriously, mine goes off at random. My gf sat in front of my car one day, I popped the hood and it goes off! I have never seen it do that before, and have not seen it do that since, just that one time when her head was 5 inches from my horn.
I have yet to hear the end of it.....

The times mine has gone off were when I had locked the car (keypad or otherwise) and then opened a door/the trunk w/o a key, like if the windows were down and I just pulled up on the lock thing. Then for a while after I got my aftermarket remote keyless entry, sometimes it was like it didn't feel like disarming the factory alarm when I would hit unlock on the keyfob, so I'd open the door and get a nice loud surprise. Those stopped a while ago; I guess the new system finally decided to always disarm the alarm when I press unlock and arm it when I hit lock.
sounds like it sucks!
i wanna reset my keypad and put in a new code, but i'll probably not...i'll just get a new remote start with keyless entry....
so far mine only went off when i left the trunk open for a 1min or 2

there are sensors on the doors and hood so that the alarm goes off any time you open any of them while the system is armed.
the only way to disarm the system is to put the key in a door and turn it. when the lock is turned, it makes a wire inside the lock touch chassis ground, and the alarm sees that pulse and disarms the system. If it doesn't see that ground pulse, it goes off if any sensor is tripped. very simple system, but effective for what it does. there are obviously ways to trigger it without actually breaking into the car though.
If the system is armed and you unlock the door from the inside and then open it, it will go off. i.e. i left my window down one day and the door was locked.. I just grabbed the plunger and pulled it up and opened the door. honk honk honk!
All the system is designed to do is to make noise if it sees an attempt to get into it or disable it via opening a door or trunk/hood.
when you're shaking the car and it goes off, it's 99% chance that you're actually moving the hood slightly and it sets off the hood sensor.
I installed one of the old courtesy VG strut braces on my VE by bending it a bit and pounding some clearance dents in the bracing under the hood. it held the hood up just enough so that the sensor would trip when the wind was more than 15-20mph and it would cause the hood to move while the car was parked.

My alarm doesn't even work. Same thing with the seat belt sensor and the backlighting on the climate control system. The warning noise that the car makes because it randomly thinks that I have my seatbelt on or off drives me crazy because it goes off all the time at random. I'm about ready to find that damn thing in the dashboard and rip it out.
