I broke my 3rd-4th gear shift fork....

Just like the title says...I broke a shift fork. It's stuck in 4th gear right now. This happened night before last while on my way home from a friend's house. I had it towed to my house yesterday and I'm going to crack the tranny case right now. I'll post some pics after a while.

I considered welding the shift fork back together but it was damaged too much so I'll buy one from the stealership tomarrow for $58.

how hard is working on the tranny with it on the engine like that? Also what did you use to remove the fork stopper ring?

nice. it's good you just leave it on there, saves a buttload of work. but didn't you have to do it a few months ago too? or maybe you just posted pics..

yeah I posted pics of when I replaced my ISB a few months ago. I actually did the ISB job about 6-7 months ago. Yeah, it definitely saves ALOT of time and work to rebuild the tranny while it's still in the car. Today, it only took me an hour and a half to tear it all apart and I wasn't working all that fast either.

you might as well replace all the bolts with some kind of quick release lock

yep she's still clean as a whistle...

I bought a shift fork today for $38 shipped (next day air) from the dealership. They gave me a nice discount because I work for the mazda/kia dealership now (selling cars).
