broken bolt in the main pin
broken bolt in the main pin
Just spent the lovely afternoon on my maxima, changed both side ball joints, tie rod ends(Thanks internetautomart, I finally got the package today). Everything goes fine until it came to the brake pads, I broke the bolt on the MAIN PIN
. Based on my current tool collection and experience, I perfer to just buy a new one somewhere. Any ideal where can I get one, is this sth most auto part store carries or I have to go to the dealership? Thanks for any suggestions from you guys.

So you just need to replace the pin and bolt, or is the pin stuck in the caliper as well?
If you just need the pin and bolt, it'll cost you about $12 at a local dealer. pin on nissanparts.cc is listed at 7.02 and the bolt is 3.66
I'd also recommend rebuilding the caliper while you have it off. the rebuild kit includes new rubber boots for the slider pin as well as the caliper seal and boot. it's $23.53 for the front axle set (both calipers).

Thanks.
Oh yea, thats a lot of fun! I had the same problem happen to me on my first break job on the Max except my guide pin was frozen in the caliper bracket. Make sure you lube them up real nice and be sure to stuff some extra grease inside the boot so that problem never happens again.
