Vg question
harbor freight or some place were they have specialty tool or even autozone rent-a-tool service. get yourself an adjustible puller were you would have to drill into the pulley itself. Or lubricate the hell out of it and let sit awhile and pry with screwdriver
When I did my cam seals, timing belt, water pump, etc. I was going to do the crank seal as well. But I ended up saying screw it for now, but I remember how I was told to get it off:
You need to tap a couple of screws into it so you have something to grab on to. The downside is you will need to replace the gear.

I drilled two holes and tapped them so I could put a steering wheel puller on it to pull it off. The gear isnt very expensive.
first thing first...get a new gear. also pick up that big washer being it.
on the old VG i had to break the gear in 1/2 to get it out. that means i had to drill a few relief holes and some fun with a dremel cutting disc to get the pulley out. after it cracked the crank still didn't want to come out. i had to use a nice big 2 claw puller to get it out.

i used 2 of those long a$$ flat head screwdrivers (the ones that the shops use that the tip is at an angle) and just put it behind the crank pulley and just start prying side to side and it will come out. eventually i ended up buyin' a puller and used it since then. sometimes the pulley just needs a nice little prying and it will slide out with no problems. luckily it happened to me on both my '93 and when i had my '89.

i didn't want to risk messing with it since the crank snouts are known to break on the VGs.

On my older VG, I just cut through it (making sure not to hit the crank snout), and pulled it off. I had a replacement from a spare engine I had laying around so it wasn't a big expense for me.
