How does VLSD work?
How does VLSD work?
Pretty basic tech question, can someone describe (or direct me to) the how and why our transaxles are able to work so well. In comparison to other (both higher and lower HP) fwd cars i have driven, very few have "stuck" to the road like the Max. Thanks!
Personally, I'd like to see someone do the quaife ATB install and see how it performs vs. vlsd.

Get Quaife to actually make one, and then see what happens.
hmmm ya know... I've got my tranny sitting on the workbench right now.. I'll call Cattman today and see what's the dealio with them.

this trans has been sitting for like a year i cant even find a vlsd unit yet
i v only called a few places though
my fsm shows to check for cracks but not how to rebuild it

The differential itself is rebuildable, but the vicsous coupling is not rebuildable and only comes as a 'differential housing assembly' from the factory for $768.
Or you can buy the entire differential for $1028.

So I'm waiting on word back from him.
Assuming there is actually one available and it actually fits, I'll update you guys on the news later.

as far as the trans re assembly itll be a first for me but since i used a big flat piece of styrofoam so i could stick the bolts, pins, clips etc. into the foam and
write the descriptions next to each piece and not lose or mixup stuff
it should be good
looks like im s.o.l. on a new unit so...i guess i could rebuild it and see what a crack in the vlsd housing case does,or sell it off as is,or keep it for parts
its from a parts car that i got enough money for already so im really only like
50.00 into it (new front shaft bearings)+free "pro"bearing install
