I am trying to figure out why does the back of my hood scratches the passenger side windshield wiper on my newly purchased maxima 1994.

I checked for damage/accident and repairs but found nothing. Everything appears to be original.

Can someone measure their 1992 to 1994 SE vehicle on the distance from the windshield to the hood. I think maybe the passenger side wiper arm is set too low and it is interfering with the hood when the hood opens.

If someone can send me a digital image, that would be great.

I am also open for suggestions on finding out why is there a clearance problem between my car hood and the passenger side windshield wipers.

thanks

anyone?

Come on guys and gals, it is just one simple check. I know this cannot be a common problem among maximas.

The passenger side wiper is labeled "A" which I think is still the original wiper. I am under the impression that no one replaces the wiper arms, just the blade assembly when it is worn out and no longer wipes water off the windshield.

It is killing me not to have a reference vehicle to compare against.

check to make sure the arm is all the way on the drive shaft thingy.. I've seen some people remove them (for whatever reason).. and when they put them back on, it doesn't get all the way back on, then it bumps the hood.

my 93GXE had about 1/4" of clearance I believe, but I can't be certain of that now since it's in pieces in the driveway.

I could check, but I wouldn't be able to get back to ya until later on today.

I just ran out and checked. My hood just barely clears the wiper while it is opening, and has about 2" clearance when all the way open. Maybe a tiny bit more.

Wow, this is interesting.. It is good to know that I am not the only one. Are you the original owner?

One of my friend looked at it and he said maybe the bushing is worned out or "broken". It felt really loose at the bolt point unlike the one on the driver side.

Thanks for checking..

There is a chance that it needs readjustment. Does anyone out there know how to do this?
