What's Your Most ****-Retentive Automotive Quirk?

Hah, Sort of stole the topic from another forum but It was pretty fun so I decided to share with the org.

So tell us, what IS your most ****-retentive automotive quirk?

I'll start it off with:

all 4 front air conditioning vents have to be completely straight (not down or up) and pointed directly in the middle with the vents all the way open.

I'll bang off my floor mats before each and every time I go somewhere to get loose dirt out.

I can't have a speck of ANYTHING on the dashboard.

Wheel Wells HAVE to be cleaned and shiny black with tire cleaner.

I take pieces of plastic trim off of the car when detailing to get a better clean on them.

Seats have to be a certain position, don't think about adjusting them when you're in my car

DO NOT touch the radio
DO NOT touch the A/C
DO NOT roll down your window without asking first (It may be up for a reason, ie. mornings + dew = water in the car)

I get REALLY paranoid when I get done waxing/washing and have to take pictures of it for documentation on comparison from previous waxes. Always think the neighbors are sitting there watching me

Man... there's so much more. But I'm starting to degrade myself :-D

+1 on the air vents though I cut the air supply off to the far pasenger side one because I cant feel the air out of that one.

I vacum my car out every time I go anywhere...

I cant stand the tan ring that my tires get when I drive down our dirt road (1/2 dirt/gravel road) So I respray the tires after I get on the road.

I can't stand change in the change holder because it rattles.....

I never leave anything in my cars cabin besides the black spray painted pole to hold the hood up with.

I also have to dress the trim pices on the side of the doors because they become splochy easily....

Thats it for Now.........

Ditto on the door slamming, none of my cars are POS's and their doors shut just fine with minimal effort, other then the D side door on my 240, and I'm going to fix that soon...

My Drivers door is saging on its hinges but I don't see how I can replace the door hinges because they seem to be welded on the frame.

Hate it when people sit on my fender/hood, it's like an invasion of property. This didn't used to bug me AS much until someone actually dented the hood doing it.

Haha, My friends and I (usually three all together) would sometimes go to the intercoastal and lay on the hood/windshield and look at the water. BIG mistake

Hah, my hood is pretty much trashed anyway and I'm getting a new one, but my friends Dead Kennedys belt buckles bigger than the SUN didn't help much with the paint

I hate stuff on the ground. I feel like its gunning to roll under my feet even if its on the passenger side.

My car has NEVER been smoked in. and I'm keeping that way.

Nothing is allowed in the door compartments in the front. my speakers rattle w/e it is.

Engine compartment is clean also.

If a bird decides to make a bathroom of my car it instantly gets a full body makeover. wash wax wheels vacuum.

thats all I can think of now.

(somewhat related. but I'm sick of people taking 10 minutes to find a door handle... its not that hard jebus!)

I hate when people slam the trunk, and it bounces so they slam it 5 times
I hate that they lower the windows before asking (the always brake, is an old car, ASK ME!)
People who light a cigarette without asking...
When somebody other than me uses the car and leave que electric mirrors' **** to one side it drives me mad.

I have to keep it clean-
Clean engine bay (sorry to you guys with the color-coordinated poles)
Nothing in the cabin except my sunglasses
No eating/drinking/smoking in the car
Absolutely no bird ****/tree sap anywhere on the paint at any time
Paint has to be reasonably clean (winter I don't worry as much)
Wheels/tires are scrubbed by hand with every wash
I don't let anyone else wash my car. They just don't do it right. Ever.

WRONG, well maybe they are welded but trust me...just get a 12mm and break those nuts loose I just changed my driver side door hinges 15 bucks each at Nissan.. took me 1 hour pretty much by myself, just put a crate under door so it doesnt fall and support it against wall (garage in my case) took me about a good hour not using any fancy tools or anything just a 12mm wrench, pry bar to pry hinge off, and pliers to pull pin.

Anyway I also hate it when people slam my door and yes the "wheres your door handle" is kind of annoying as well.

#1 I can't stand it when they pull on the handle & it's locked, so they pull really hard, thinking it's gonna make it open. That's after it takes them 10 minutes to find it!

#2 I hate it when they get finger prints all over the windows, or when they drag alot of dirt & stuff in the car. It always seems to happen right when I buff the interior.

Only other thing I can think of, is sitting on the hood. It's fine if people (lean) on the fenders, but DO NOT sit on the hood.

I remember having automotive OCD when I was 16

I like keeping things clean and tidy when I'm not using them but beating mats out every time I get in/out of my car? no chance. Passenger seat, I generally keep it all the way back, but unless it's all the way forward, I probably won't mess with it. I take the time to make sure things are straight and appear the way they would as if it is your first time getting in the car (like straightening twisted seat belts).

I keep the passenger side vents closed if no one else is in the car, but that's so the drivers side gets more air. The only thing I hate is if people leave trash behind, slam doors, or get the car dirty.

Finger prints/writing on the windows are annoying, but since girls are the only ones who do it....

I remember when I cared and had time for that stuff. Now I spend more time under the hood than I do inside the car.

no leaves/ pine needles/ **** under wipers or around hood/ trunk sill
no loose **** or trash even in trunk (slides around when cornering) (subwoofer and amp secured)
doorjambs must be clean
one axle seal still has small leak, so about once a month I will get under the car and hand-clean transmission housing, shift linkage, etc. to get oil/ dirt off
wheels=clean
no gunk in tray under e-brake handle or in shift boot or seat seams

you could? so what besides them smoking and making a mess do you care so much about?

^^obviously one of my pet peeves

btw, smoking in a car doesn't do anything as long as the window is cracked to suck all the smoke out and they don't make any burns, plus make sure to ash and throw the butt out the window.

hmm...i really like my windshield to be clean inside and out. i hate driving at night and you see all these damn smudges on the glass when it's being shown by lights from on coming cars. no smudge no glare.

that's about it really, i mean if i was so **** about vent positions and what not, it'll make them uncomfortable in the car...and scared to touch stuff etc. i want my passengers to relax and enjoy the ride.

as for the smoking...NO smoking haha. i can't stand 2nd hand smoke. if they wanna smoke, wait til we're stopped somewhere or at our destination, then light up.

Hah, I disagree with that. Since my car has been smoked in most of all it's life, usually with windows down or cracked. There are a lot of things smoking "contributes" to on the inside of your car. Nicotine always used to stain my windshield and create like a "film" on the inside. It would make it a PAIN to clean (yellow paper towels) and would never get crystal clear no matter how much you tried to get that crap out. Also, the smell of it used to make me crazy, especially if it was wet out and the floormats would get wet. Hah... sorry

Cigs just make me crazy in my car

I don't think I have OCD, though mess and clutter can upset me. When I'm driving, I hate things rolling around during turning (I tend to make turns fast). Empty bottles, items in cellophane bags, etc., can ruin my driving experience and tend to get taken out quickly or at least thrown in the trunk.

Come to think of it, I miss my GXE's velour seats; things didn't bounce around as much. Leather sl-i-d-e-s...

My dad (i bought the car from him) smoked and burnt holes on the side column. sigh* I cant count how many times I've shampooed the damn carpets to get rid of the smell... i still think its there. i took out the foot mats cause they were stained and worn beyond hell so I just vacuum and keep the regular carpets clean. and i took out the ashtray area and put in a custom mount for my strobe light controller. (strobes cause i work for the police, not ricer strobes)

OK, no one has said this yet...

I have a log book in each of my cars, and every fillup, every fix, anything done to my cars get written up, date, location, mileage, litres, cost, and summary of repair, where, who, and how much. IF possible, I even include part numbers...

I'm just funny that way
