Last word on Konis?

nice mileage.... seriously, if I were you I'd sell your ride. Combine that money with the allocated amount your willing to spend on 4 konis and get yourself a nice 4th gen. There are so many aftermarket parts out there for that ride. You'll have so more fun messing around with it than our 3rd gen. It's just ain't worth it.

Besides, I really hate the idea of consumerism in our society - if it's inconvenient, throw it out and get a new one. Where do all the perfectly repairable and usable cars go? Into a landfill in my grandkid's backyard? We really should all become extremely environment and social impact conscious immediately. We can't afford to let the future generations have to clean up all our crap!

Can anyone confirm if cars equipped with the Sonar Suspension can switch out to Konis? I'm not entirely sure, but I think my dad swapped out the front shocks with oem replacements, the non sonar suspension type. The stealership wanted 600 per shock, so he got regular ones. I just want to confirm if I can use konis, for future reference.

I'm not 100% sure, but the Nissan dealership parts guy said they would probably work, just need to unhook the electronic setup. The question in my mind is, do I want to drill out the front struts as they are, because if I ever wanted to go back to stock, then I'd be screwed. I may just go with junkyard casings as the other guy said (I got a quote for $100 for both fronts from LKQ) or I may just go with the cheaper Toks or KYBs for now that don't have to be drilled out and upgrade to Konis later.
And, NO, I will never "upgrade" to a 4th gen. If anything, it would go with a newer G35 sedan(2007) or M35/45 or (stretching it) a 5.5gen Max of '02-'03 I35. I still want to take the Max (3rdGen) to the max

I autocross as welll and run tockico illumina adjustables, i personally feel that if your not doing any type of competition just go with the non adjustable performance shocks tociko or koni, both are great and will dramatically improve handling without out sacrificing a great ride. i prefer tociko myself.

You use Tokico Illuminas in your 1992 SE? How is that possible? They only make the Blue HPs for the 3rd gen. Are you talking about a fourth gen car?
At the moment, I am considering saving the extra $200 or so dollars from the Konis and going with a Tokico setup but then using that money to ad ST sway bars front and rear. What do you think?
Also, should I worry about using top quality strut mounts (tokico or KYB) or is it all right to go with less expensive ones (Monroe or the other ones from InternetAutoMart)?
