Got bored ended up with retrofit.
i recommended to somebody to put a projector retrofit into the new clear euro headlights for our car. But since no body has done it we have nothing to go on. Until now... well sort of. I took the old OEM headlights oven'd them cut away with a dremel and put in some projectors I took out of my fog lights. H7 silverstars. The beam is perfect for clear lenses. Unfort all i have are the stock lenses So i will take some pics of the pattern with and without the stock lenses on them so you can see. again this is a ruff estimate. uploading pics as we speak!

you either have the projector shield backwards or you got an euro spec cut off shield....but then again it's a DOT cut pattern so i don't know but the cut off is going the wrong direction. the higher pattern should be on the right...not left.

the projecter is from this fog light i bought off eBay awhile ago. its funny cause of how well it works for such cheap thing. now imagine with bixenon bosche.

I dont think you understand what Dan is saying. The cut off is backward. The higher part is supposed to go to the right instead of the left like it is. I dont know if you can get inside the lights to move the shield the other way or not but it is definitely backwards.
and just so you know...others have indeed retrofitted projectors into stock lights...they just dont advertise it.

well i advised it for someone on the forums to try with the euro lights. so i just posted to show them what i meant. and out of bordem ><
#2 the shields were fixed. sorry didn't think thats what he meant. but its all set now:-p
I also have a picture of them with HID's the cut off line has nice blue hue along it

Nice job there. I've been toying with the idea of retrofitting a set of Acura TL Bi-Xenon projectors with a pair of Phillips or Denso Balasts and some Phillips D2S 4300K bulbs. Might get the euro-clear headlights for X-mas. If so, my retrofit is definatly on.

i have to get a better pic of the retros with the HIDS. No that shroud will not fit i have to custom it. these were test subjects untill I buy some euro lensed lights. heres a pic of the hids in my e36 projectors. 6000k.

The only real difference between the clear and the fresnel'ed projector lenses is that the fresneled lenses have a softer cut-off and project more light out directly in front of the car. Personally, I'd rather have the softer cut-off.

Fellow Maxima.org members, I am WAY late on this trend of retrofitting a maxima with HID ligths. I have been contemplating looking into a way to get HIDs for my car, but just recently realized I was already behind!
I would like to get a set built for my 99 Maxima, but do not think I could do it by myself and not mess up $100 worth of light housing! So I would like to contract someone to build it for me, with me supplying the parts. If anyone knows someone that could do it for me (and not for my arm and leg) let me know. I will pay for the person's labor, and supply whatever parts I need to get the HID set built for my car. If they are on the east coast, I would also possibly drive to their location and let them put them in for me. Someone please help a fellow Maxima lover get his car up to date and looking swift!

if you decide finish that pair of retrofits, can you temporarily install them using halogens, and take a few nighttime neighborhood/street pictures, to see how they are in practical use? i'm guessing it'd still be worlds better than the stock headlights even for being so cheap. it'll be nice to be able to verify that my headlights are on, without having to check the switch because they're on but look off (like i do with my current stock lights)

i need to finish my retrofits damn it. good job on the retrofit. now it makes me want to do it to the euro spec 3rd gen headlights rather than using the E36 headlights for it. oh well.

hids are not all that expensive
if the bulb blows get another, you can get a pair for like 50 bux on ebay or HID Planet if you go origonal
but if you go aftermarket with all those wires then it might be too expensive
but i do agree if your going to college and makin 7ish an hour dont do to much to the point where if you do sometin wrong your out of a vehicle

well i dunno know if any one eles has done it either but this is my second try doing this retrofit into the stock housing. I used a pair of Infinity J30 dual Projectors for hi/lows and the lows being xenon from a 2002 maxima with d2s bowls from a acura tl. Pretty nice set-up currently i am still waiting on my euro headlight to come in from The city of Industry In Ca. Its been about a week now since i last bought off of E-Bay Hopfully tommorry They will be in that will be my weekend swap.

DONT. PNP pug and play kits are bad. Bad quality. They burn out. the bulbs/ballasts blow fast. Stick with OEM. Valeo/Hella gen 2/3 balalst. with phillips or osram Hid bulbs 4100k-5000k found at hidplanet.com do some more research. Dont ever put hids in reflector housings. Retrofit HID specific projectors like tsx s2000 tl zkw e55s. I personally went with the e55 projector since it is bixenon and Stock on the new maximas. I just got my 3000k Hid Osram Bulbs today. which are pure yellow. I'll post pics later. make an account at hidplanet.com check out the university. and educate yourself!

The balljoint part of the headlight bracket broke so they are floating. here are the night pics of my 3000k d2s OEM kit in a e55 projector retro... 56k beware
