92 auto tranny - revolution sensor

does anyone know how much a revolution sensor runs for and what does it do specifically? does it go under another name at part stores like autozone?

I got a revolution sensor code from the tranny diag. I think this might be the problem to my car's delayed shifting.

You have a 92 SE, good luck getting anything right at autozone other than brakes.

Actually....they tried giving me the rear drums when I asked them for front pads on my SE, yeah sad.

hey let me know if this changes the way your tranny shifts. i have a vg to and it shirts horribly... it takes for ever to engage in a gear and most of the time just leaves engine revving then engages a couple seconds later.

That just means your tranny is slipping and needs a rebuild.

thats exactly what is happening to my tranny nForce! If I do need a rebuild, which is cheaper, a swap to a 5spd or doing the rebuild.

I called Courtesy Nissan today. they quoted $129 for the revolution sensor and $10 for the gasket. I ran the diag. on the tranny again and it came back O.K. no problems. can the cars tranny diag. detect slippage?

Its a documented swap, you just need the VE axles and hubs. Check the stickies.

Prices for the swap can vary from $200-1000 and rebuilds are $1K+. A 5 speed swap wont break, but most rebuilt autos live just to fail another day.
