or...keep your maxima it's errie how much the 2 cars have in common. only the max offered a manual tranny. for what you're about to pay for a tl, you could built one hell of a unique 3rd gen. opposed to a stock tl like thousands of other people on the streets.

The first car only has 20k less miles, not half. And its missing some options. Plus they are private party and want the same price. Thanks for the lookout tho. If I was to build up a nice 3rd gen, I would be raped with interest rates on that big of a personal loan.

i think that not a good idea because i know someone who has a cobalt and its not that reliable. i would say get a new nissan or a japanese or german car. no offense but i wouldnt go with an american car

on a new car, the difference in actual quality between brands is not as great as it once was.

that's a big part of the reason I won't buy a new car. maybe an old Grand cherokee limited though

Guy at the Chevy dealer in town can smoke the tires all the way through 3rd gear in those and he will demonstrate it to anyone. The SS Supercharged version is very nice. I want one but Ill stick to my V8 S10 Blazer for now. Good choice!

Sorry man, here is some reality.

1) The Maxima is Nissan's flagship model. It has all of the things that made it worth $23K or so back in the early 90's. The Cobalt SS is a $15K car with some upgrades. It will not last like the Max. It is the replacement for the Cavalier, doesn't that tell you anything?

2) You are not making decent money if you are working at Circuit City. Period. You are looking at a cheap car because that is what you can afford.

3) Making the small amount of money at CC and buying a new car (depreciating asset) is a very bad decision at your season of life. Yeah, a bunch of people do it, yeah, you can make it work. Should you do it? Hell no.
If you are not in school, go there. If you have to quit your 'good' job in order to go to school and be successful at that, then do it.

You know all this already, just put it into practice.
