i remember reading on here on time about some 3rd gen maxes that came with mirrors that were not painted. they were black or something? what years and make (se/gxe) were these on if they made them?

Mine aren't painted (they're just the black matte finish), and I've got a 92 SE. Hope that helps.

they came only on SE models. I know they're on 92-94, but I can't say for certain if they were on 89-91 also. I don't think they were, but I could be mistaken.

cool, thanks for the info guys. you think that it would look good on my car? on my current mirrors, the paint is starting to wear off. now that i have removed my side moldings, and if i get these mirrors, my car will be perfect!!

oh, and matt, i think that they did not come on an 89-91 se because my friend has a 90 se and his are painted.

I have a charcoal 91 SE and the mirrors are black. I think the reason they are black as opposed to color coded is to match the black trim around the windows as opposed to the chrome trim.

89-90 SE's have flush side mirrors that are black.
89-90 GXE's have flush side mirrors that are painted body color.
91-94 SE's have extended side mirrors that are black.
91-94 GXE's have extended side mirrors that are painted body color.
