Original Wheels

Just curious....How many of you guys out there still run with the original 15" wheels that came with the Max, & how many of you have updated to bigger wheels. I am debating as to update the wheels next, or to leave the stock look, I have original 15" wheels right now, might update to bigger ones, however I kinda like the stock appearance....

I run the 15" Stock GXE rims. I'm not crazy about them and the clearcoat is chipping off so they don't look very good up close. I want 16" 4th Gen Rims, or possibly a clean looking 17". But I'll most likely do that when I get my 1.2" Eibach Springs.

Yess, I like that look a lot for some reason. Still looks kind of stock IMO, but cleaner.

I also like the 4th Gen SE 16" rims, however I can't find them around, I also like the 17" 5 Gen SE Rims, particularly the ones from the 2000-01 Maxes, however can't find those yet either.....I am currently running stock GXE Rims on my 94......they are a PITA to keep clean!!!

I've got 2K SE rims on. Next summer I'll look for some copper colored ones like the NISMO rims, but I want to stick with 16's. Here's pics.

You should talk to Matt93SE or Jeff92SE about various rim sizes.

I had a couple of different sets of 17s, but sold them (ones in my sig pic). I like those the best of the ones I have had. I have also run 15s and 16s.

I'm still running my original 15s. I don't see much of a reason to switch right now- I like my rims well enough and buying new rims means new tires, springs, and shocks too- I don't want it to look like it's on stilts. Maybe when my current tires wear out I'll think about it again.

haha. i stole those from my parents 2k for the summer. over all great look. wrong offset (some slight rubbing but after taking them off for the winter, nothing was wrong) you DEFFINATELY notice a difference in accel, much much slower. these wheels are beasts. but since theyre on falken rubber the cornering was improved.

would i reccomend them? no. impractical.

I run stock on both cars. I though I like GXE's stock wheels better than the SE's.

For those that changed them...
WHY?????

They don't look right. It is like the Statue of Liberty being painted bright orange. Yeah it is easier to see, but the look is harsh.

The nice thing about Nissans 91-94 rims, is that they were polished and clear coated and seem to look fairly modern. Did the Chevy Corvette steal it's rim design from the Nissan Z or Maxima SE? I've always wondered that.
Nice pics of those black and red SEs! I also like those 16inch 2000 Maxima SE rims-look pretty stock. My 94 GXE had the stock rims, unfortunately the clear coat was dissolving, and they weren't looking that great.

Its Koni/Eibach on 16's. Its all in my sig, but half the time it doesn't show. I've always thought the 5th gen rims are nicer than the 4th.

I know of a set fairly near me. He wouldn't sell them. From what I remember it's a no go on a maxima. Maybe on a 5-6th gen.

The 91-94 rims have a machined finish. That's what I still have on my '92 and I like them for that reason. The finish contrasts very well on a black car.

Because cars, especially these, aren't anything like the statue of liberty and the stock rims make the car look old..

The right set of wheels can really improve the look of any car.

Seems like everyone likes these. Honestly I prefer to stick with original nissan rims and similar size. 97-99 16" SE I like, 2002-03 17" SE/GXE, 2004+ 17" and 18" is what I would go for. Hell even 4th gen 15" sawblades look good on 3rd gen

I, like many others in this thread, would really like to see some 4th gen SE 16s on my car, but I'm not going to start seriously looking again for a little while as it is now wintertime and my tires all have quite a bit of life left in them.

Hey mine is a 1990, so why do I have polished rims then? I'm confused...are my coated or not? (I've been using multi-purpose cleaner because I had no idea).

Stock 4th gen size which is 215/55/16 and the reason they look awesome is because they're GoodYear Assurance TripleTred...dude they're so sweet in the snow and even better in rain and dry!
