Well, I finally replaced my stock wheels this weekend. I had been using the black set from my old max because the tires were still good, but it was now time to new rubber. I bought the wheels back in June and got the tires last week. Anyway, I saw this thread Saturday morning and it helped motivate me to get the tires mounted/balanced. I picked up some new lug nuts and installed the new wheels when I got home. The wheels are from an '03 base model G35 sedan (16x6.5, center caps replaced with Nissan) and the tires are Yokohama AVID H4S 215/60. I went with the 60 series over the 55's for a smoother ride, and so far they seem to ride pretty nice. I also opted for a longer tread life over higher performance handling, and these tires have a 60,000 warranty. I don't think they're the sexiest wheel put on a 3rd gen, but I like the smooth symmetrical design of them.

The old black sawblades, originally from my super white '90 SE.

Here's the 'new' wheels - '03 G35 sedan 16" and Yokohama's.

If anyone's interested in the black sawblades, PM or post and let me know. I'll clean them up and post in the for sale section if I don't sell locally first (Las Vegas area).

I remember I got the idea of the black saw blades from you (I think) a long time ago

Are those Chrome 15" wheels original, i happened across a set about 4 years ago...wow, kinda rare.

I am almost certain of this but infiniti J30 wheels are supposidly VERY light and extremely well made. I am not sure if its the J30t which are "BBS style mesh" or the regular J30 wheels.

Concidering I got the car from my stepmom and step grandma who far from being the kind of people that would work on a car or have something done to it, I would think that they are original.

I will continue using all purpose cleaner because I can not for the life of me find out if they are coated or not. All I do know is that the things are basically maintainance free. The ONLY time I have the clean the shiny surface is when I was the car because of water spots, otherwise brake dust doesn't stick. It does get stuck though inbetween the turbines though where it is rough metal.

I absolutely love them and dont want to get aftermarket wheels. I do want to do something about those damn centercaps though. Need to find a way to chrome those properly.

Well, I'm definitely not in a position right now to mess with different wheel styles, but if and when I do, I can see how some look very nice, and others... not so much (I'm not saying which is which). I like my stock SE rims anyhow, and by the way, yes, they DO look like stock Corvette rims, but I think they were first seen on the 84's, weren't they? Anyways, I see some nice 3rd gen examples out there, guys.

Well they don't add any performance but I love the looks of the 4th gen 15"ers.. I already had two when I bought the car so I forked up the other two for a nice matching set. I thought a lot about upsizing to 17s but stuck with 15s and nice touring tires for a nice smooooth ride. It handles great at high speeds but can't do the quick slaloming type actions bigger wheels allow you to because of lacking sidewall stiffness, but I'm happy with it!

Besides, I get to just lower my tire pressure and gain a lot of traction...try that with 18s!
