For yah orgers in the states that dont have inspections yah so lucky. But here in New York. You gotta have one or you dont drive.I have an 89 GXE with 224000 miles and passed with flying colors. There are cars that are newer and dont pass. Thanks to the orgers out there with that good info. This is the best site.3rd Gen Rules.

Here in Illinois we have only emissions testing. They put your car on a dyno and drive it at various speeds. Its supposed to be a 10 min test, unless you have super low emissioins in which case you get a "quick pass" after just 3 min or so. At 215K my 89 VG got a "quick pass" and so did my 91 @120k. Both are california models, which may help me out quiet a bit. Just wondering if any other states have a "quick pass" or something similar?

Here in New York my test is like an hour.Depending on the speed of the mechanic. They do emissions. Drive the car on a dyno connected to a screen.Where theres a like a road.Like playing playstation lol. Before that test they check brakes all lights even the the horn.all for 37 bucks. Here are my results.
Emissions test limits HC 0.80 CO 15.00 NOx 2.00
Emissions results HC 0.52 CO 3.92 NOx 0.78

In Texas they check the pressure on your fuel cap. That's the only thing I've ever had to spring for to pass an inspection - $12 or something.

94 GXE with 167,000 miles.
