Maximum offset..

Sorry for posting this if it's been covered before, but I can't search. I'll donate when I can afford it. I want to know if I can use 17x8 rims with an offset of 48. A buddy of mine with an STi is selling em, cause he got 19's. He'll give me a good deal on them too, but I'm not sure if they'll fit. Thanks, and sorry again.

My brother's gonna pay for the wheels. Thanks for the link though. *edit* Ok, but I don't know the stock wheel offset...

I've seen that size for our car at an offset of +42mm. Would 6mm make that much of a difference? I'm probably going to go by his house and see if they fit w/o a problem. But your help is appreciated.

On my old car, I had 18x8 +45 offset and I needed about 6mm worth of spacers to make them clear in the rear.

So do you think they'lll clear with enough spacers? Or will that make em' bulge out too much? In any case, he's a real cool guy, so he'll let me fit em on before any transaction takes place.

I had 17x7 wheels with 45mm offset on my 93. Would not clear the rear without 5mm spacers. Add another half inch + 3mm on the inside - I would say no way it would clear. That was with 215/55 tires BTW.

Ok, the wheels in question are Rota Revs, 17x8. Now, he's not so sure what the offset is, but I've looked up and they come in a 45mm and a 48mm offset. If it is indeed a 45mm offset, would they fit with spacers?

Ok, sorry for the double post. But could rolling the fenders solve the rubbing/fitment solution?

If you're gonna go through ALL that just for some rims off another car you gotta be desperate for rims.

WELL, the rims are being offered at a good deal. And I may have someone who can roll the fenders for me. Just want some input from any of the orgers who may have rolled their fenders to fit big wheels.

It's not the fenders that is the issue, it's the strut housing.

So, someone on here should know the stock offsets. What are they? What is the range of offsets that work for aftermarket wheels? Does the width of the rim make a difference (i.e. 17x7" vs. 17x7.5" or 17x8")? Let us know, Oh experienced .Org Masters!

Stock is 15x6 or 15x6.5 (SE), 35mm offset. I have 18x7.5's with 42 offset on right now, and probably 5mm clearance between wheel and strut housing. If you use the calculator above, going to 8" and 48mm offset decreases strut-side clearance by 12MM. They won't fit without spacers. The max for an 8" rim is 35 maybe 38mm offset.

stock SE wheels are 15x6.5 45mm offset

So you're saying they WILL fit with spacers?

There is no way to really know unless you test fit them with some spacers; as you push the wheels out to clear the strut housing, they then might start rubbing the fender.
