Flex pipe and catalitic converts PITA

so yeah today my flex pipe finally decided to break and also i have been having a leak from the front of the catalitic converter flang so today i got them fixed but at a pocket hurting price $220 for both parts being replaced but atlewast now i wont have to worry about the flang bolts breaking or the gasket blowing out as they replaced the flex and cat with a new flex and a 2.25 catalitic converter so now my maxima sounds nice fdor a stock exhaust system. nice tone for stock set up. next up get the hayame dtx muffler installed once i get money to do so.

too bad you weren't around a few years ago.

I sold my perfect stock y-pipe for I think $75 + shipping. You are somewhat local and you could have picked it up probably in Portland.

Personally, I probably would have driven the car around sounding like a pile of **** for a while until the warpspeed stuff came in. The extra performance for the same amount of $$ would have been worth it. Besides, even if they replaced your flex pipe, the rest of the y-pipe is susceptible to rust.

If you had gotten the stuff from Warpspeed, you could have installed it yourself. Well, with a garage. I know the current weather isn't very good for working on cars outside. I am sure for a pizza MrGone would have offered up his garage and helped with his air tools. I think he probably misses working on Maximas.

the pacesetter is only for the VG engine. elusivemax has a VE

I think Pacesetter's reputation isn't that great for quality construction. I am glad you are happy with it.

sloppy up front..
not too bad in the back.

i believe the stock Y-pipe is 409 (i think it's 409) stainless steel.

Metal in front = thin. so welding was tricky. Metal out back was thick = easy to lay a good bead. Plus I think I did the front first as it didn't take any measuring. Since this flex is 2x as long as the original and since I used a 4-gen cat that's shorter, I had to take measurements

yeah yeah...excuses..LOL jk

i had a hard time welding the cattman flex in also since it was thin as paper around the front of the flex.

I've been away from the boards for quite some time (since my Max was stolen actually). I put 400 miles in the last 12 months on her and now driving it again. My flex pipe has a leak in it.

From what I'm reading of this warpspeed, I can get a complete component versus having my stock part fixed?
Local shop wants $180 P+L to fix exhaust...Car runs really crappy.

Yes warpspeed sells a complete upgraded y-pipe for about $200..i most cases you can install it yourself..Or a shop can install it for around $50-$75..

IMO,they are the best performance bolt on mod for these cars..
