Differences between VG and VE?

Ok, does anyone know the differences between them? I mean in the lower portion of the engine? I know the VE has higher compression pistons (atleast i think lol), i believe the rods are pretty much the same but what about the crankshaft? Are they the same?

dont forget the VE's have dual over head cams for varible valve timing and the different ignition system then that of the VG maxima where as in the VG u have a distributor ignition system and in the VE you have distributorless ignition system with a photocell senor on the camshaft end by the upper front of the car nearing the drivers side head on the cam telling the ignition control module when to send signal for the spark to accur. also the VE engine has a different intake manifold then the VG.

Technically, the pistons are pretty much the same... its the combustion chamber that really makes the difference in the compression ratio. The valve reliefs cut into the pistons are different, 2 vs. 4, but they're both flat tops to my knowledge.

both VG and VE pistons are flat tops.
there are tons of differences between the engines. take a look at the FSM for a while and you'll see more than I feel like describing here.
