need help replacing fuel line under manifold but found alot more leaks.. (see pics)

You are going to have to remove the intake plenum to replace the fuel hoses.

As for the rest of the leaks,i would clean off the oil soaked areas with brake parts cleaner,[cheap about $1.50 a can] then look at the areas intermittently for the origination point source of the leak..Also,tighten any loose hose clamps around the other leaks...

Yes you have to take off the top and lower collector, but its really easy (about 3 hrs of work). the hose dia is 5/16 th. Fuel injector hose. Autozone gave it to me for free when I asked for 4 inches. (I did buy some other things first). Do a search on fuel leak in the free search (search forums).

darn I was tryin to avoid this... I have to replace valve cover gaskets too... So this is gonna be big job... What is best to use to clean engine bay? Engine Degreaser? I guess im gonn have to go start this job now...

got my bit set and sockets for 10 bucks at local knock off parts store. gonna start the job tomorrow only thing is its gonna be 11 degrees tomorrow.

is it ok to do this inside garage? if i do it outside ill turn into a frosty the snowman... also when I pull the lower part of intake off will the gasket need to be replaced too? I have the valve cover gaskets and upper intake gasket..

you don't have to take off the throttle body. just undo all hoses and other junk connected to the plenum. i hope you have a service manual because there's a sequence and torque specs that you have to follow for your hex bolts. this isn't the best job to do if you're not an engine guy like you said in the other thread. but i'm sure you can do it. you're going to need a variety of tools to do the job. you need to kill the fuel pressure before you start doing this. and you'll leak a little coolant when you remove a few select hoses if you don't drain the system beforehand. you will need both the upper and lower plenum gaskets. good luck man. if you don't have a fsm, send me a pm.

you will need about 5 BIG cans of Throttle body cleaner, make sure they're for Fuel Injector system NOT Carb.. get some wire brushes so you could beat it as you use it. Trust me you the car will response a lot quicker after you get those carbon dioxide craps out.

in regarding to the fuel rail, make sure you get a BIG philip #3 so you could unscrew those mad tightened screws. I was a being bone headed when I did mine, I ended up slotting a few screws cuz I used size #2.

release fuel pressure by pulling the fuel pump fuse and cranking in 5 second bursts a few times. you've got determination to get out there in 11 degree weather to do this. be sure to wear gloves!

Dude like you asked me earlier and now I'm answering, YES as long as you have all the necessary replacement parts and you're at my house by 1pm CST Alex and I can def have it done by 7pm CST, if you want and can be here by then, give me a call.

We got all the necessary tools for the job and I actually still got about 1-2 ft worth of fuel injection hose which is the correct size you need as well as 1-2ft worth of vacuum hose to replace all your dry rotted existing vac hoses.

If you were to bring you car over, you wouldn't have to do anything but clean the parts we removed and have em ready by the time we're to put everything back together. You'll get a decent/reasonable labor charge In fact if we finish early (depending on how much you wanna clean) we can all go out for ice cream

don't worry, you will not feel the time passing by. it takes lot of times cuz you will have to be very conscientious or you will screw up when you put it back together and have no ideas where to troubleshoot.

assuming that you had all the parts there with you and a garage to work in, then it'll take around 12hours or less.

I would have to agree, took me about lil less than 12 hours when I did my valve cover gaskets and some other gaskets and replace all the hoses but I did injectors/gaskets on my g/fs recently and I took about 2-3 hours not counting getting a part we needed.

Dude, it was nice meeting ya...your max is nice, clean and super sweet lookin in black with your new rims. Glad Alex and I were able to fix your fuel leak,adjust timing, replace your vacuum hoses, valve cover, plentum,and intake mani gaskets. Glad to hear ya car is driving better now. Better clean that engine bay up and post some pics. I'll be posting up the 3 quick snapshots I took while you and Alex were adjusting timing.

ha nice pics.... thanks alot guys car ran smooth the whole way back. Had hard time stayin awake but I managed to get home without killin the max lol. For some odd reason my tranny shifed its self into like OD so I pressed the OD button and then pressed it again and it ran fine the whole way back.
so who knows proabaly just my crapy tranny
