To drop or not to drop, that is the question.

Hey guys,
I was talking to a friend the other day, and I was telling him what I was gonna do to modify my car. When I mentioned I was gonna get some Sprint springs and some Koni struts, dropping it 1.8" he told me I DEFINETELY SHOULD NOT DROP IT. He then went on to tell me that it was way more pain than it was worth, and that I would have to watch for any minor little cracks in the road, it would be difficult to pull into the steep driveways common here in New Mexico etc. etc. Needless to say, he convinced me not to, but I would like to hear any stories you guys might have from people who have dropped their cars.. is it really that big of a hassle, have you guys had to repair your cars etc?

i dropped my max back in 95 when i was a sophomore in highschool and i loved it. i still love it. but like your friend said, you do have to watch for ****ed up roads. if you hit a bump you will fell it hard and so will your car. and yeah steep driveways are a real pain in the ***. i'd say do it and smack your friend.
friends don't let friends drive ... stock.

your should definetaly drop your max. it is tough ONCE IN A WHILE when there's ****ty roads, but other than that, it's the greatest thing ever. it would really suck if you didn't get struts, but with tokicos or konis, you're sittin' pretty. the look and feel are tremendous. the lower stance really makes you enjoy driving.
if you're worried about hitting steep driveways etc. settle for less drop and get eibachs. no matter what with stiffer springs the bumps and cracks are a little more harsh but that's one of the downfalls to dropping your car. i have yet to have any scraping problems whatsoever with the eibachs...
Eibach are thre best of both worlds
You get a lowered stance and better handling plus the drop is not as low as Sprints. The eibachs will ride better too. You're still gonna have to watch for stuff in the road, but that really depends on whether or not you have stock rims and tires. Once you learn how to drive a lowered car, you don't even think about it.

Go the moderate route...
EIBACH springs = 1.3" drop
TOKICOs =best all around strut.
I have never had a rough road of scrapping problem.
check the pics out....

and a comparrison of various springs....

Also I have the BIG metal yellow ramps for oil changes and what not. Even with EIBACs I can still drive up on them.
