Got Bored. Starting Cleaning Engine Parts

I gtot broed the other day so I started pulling parts off my engine bay little brackets. or anything metal i could find that was hideiously ugly and i took a spinning wirebrush drill bit to em. Radiator clips, charcoal canistor holster. intake plenium is underway. makes the engine look a little bit better. one piece at a time...

Bah I triede that when I got bored as well and the damn 10mm snapped so not I only have one in the car. I keep saying "I'll drill it out tomorrow" and it just never happens and its going on for about a year lol

btw my tool set is very similar to yours except my ratchets are in order starting from 1/4 to 3/8, and then 1/2

yawn...

haha j/k

seriously though you need to get some clear or paint on it or it will rust and corrode.

Good job on hitting these though...so many people miss the little brackets and when someone like me looks (or Dan) at the engine bay I just see the little things they miss instead of the other stuff they have done.

oh and go a step further and add SS bolts. It improves the overall look so much. I put SS bolth all throughout my engine bay.

yeah because his ¼ deeps are laying down... all mine are standing up so that gives more room for more sockets. I leave it in my trunk along with a few other things, so I hate cornering hard because I don' want it to slide around and come open and spill all my tools inside my trunk. the way the wheels are on my car, the wrench that came with it simply can't fit down onto the lugs, so I am forced to keep a socket with me at all times in case of a flat.

Not even one actually, I'm pretty careful about it. I did burn my headliner once in my last car though, had it for 5 years and only one burn due to not sleeping for days lol.

who chromed them? They didn't take all the pits and corrosion out before chroming...seems strange. Maybe its just the picture. Either way they look good...nice and shiny to match the rest of your motor

a motorcycle shop somewhere closer to your neck of the woods.

they initally thought it was the BACK side that was the side showing..but then i told them it was the other side they kinda realized they made the mistake and did what they can w/ it.

it's not that bad...so i can live with it.

ah that makes sense. I dont think its anything anyone else will probably ever pick out with it on the car. Just the close up shot of them only is what drew my eye to it.

are you happy with their work otherwise? WHat is the name of the company?

Just curious because I have some things I want chromed and there are a couple of places I have looked but the more the better.

Also don't tell the EPA but I have all the stuff to do chrome. My cousin gave it to me (along with some copper and tin strips) but there is no way I am going to mix it up and do it because I don't want to fool with those chemicals.

I still haven't found an oven to try powder coating either.

it's not just the chemicals...the fumes that the chemicals create is pretty bad for you also.

i'll look back to see if i can find them. last i checked they weren't going to do chrome plating anymore since it's pretty toxic and all. not sure if they changed their minds. their work is fine. they did a great job on that intake tube where the BOV is mounted.

bah...just use a toaster oven.
