Strut bump stop

kyb boot sucks. 2 out of 4 already lost its bump stop ability. Meaning, the built in bump stops already got smashed and now no longer providing bump stop absorption so my car would click over a bump at each damaged corner.

So, I just brought myself Monroe Strut Mate (4 boots for $20 shipped from ebay). They come with polyurethane bushes. When I looked up their website they said 63620 was for the front and 63619 for the rear but somehow the bump stop bush for 63620(front) was SHORTER than 63619(rear). Anyone here have used strut mate boots? Does that sounds right to you guys? Shouldn't the bump stop for the front be longer? or that's alright?

You talking about the Strut Mounts or Strut boots?

cuz I got KYB strut boots in back and they're still like NEW and they're about a year old.

boot

kyb boot sucks, I'll never buy them again as far as I know.

speaking of strut mount, give me some idea to how to work around this problem:

You see that red circle? it got rounded off on both rear strut mounts so getting it off was such a pain in azz. I have to do this:

Which is not a problem. My problem is how do I torque it down once I installed it? the shock keeps spinning out of control. Is it alright to torque it down using my removal process before installing it back on the car? Or do I really have to torque it once I put the whole leg back onto the car?

Here is that built in bump stop problem I'm talking about, check out the red circle and arrow:

It just wouldn't hold. Thus, causing the car to click. I'm able to torque down the front strut too but because of this problem, it makes a lot of clicking noises while driving over bumps

I actually gotta change my strut mount pretty soon...would you mind taking a few pics of the mount?..I have a KYB part that I'm not sure if its for my max or not as it was given to me by nForce and that was given to him by someone else.

As for your boot, you're in luck! KYB has lifetime warranty on that so you can get a new one. My boot is still perfect after nearly a year, maybe some other factors contributed to it turning o ut how it is now.

I think the easiest thing to do would be to get a non rounded off mount from the yard?

Sorry but those 2 pictures are the best one I have taken for the mounts and they're very old. 3 years old.

NO, KYB boots doesn't come with lifetime warranty. KYB people told me NO on boots, only on strut but you gotta take it back to the guy you brought it from. I know what your talking about! I have seen several online vendors said they're LLT warranty but that was all BS!

those mounts are mad expensive, dude. Used one from the boneyard usually cost 1/3 brand new price (w. SH fee) but your running the chances of getting worned out bushings and there is no guarantee those holes are not rounded. I just brought a brand new pair for $54 shipped from Ebay but it's been 2 weeks that dinkleberry haven't shipped to me yet. I think I got screwed....I'll just wait another 2 weeks and I'll do a charge back to paypal. So now I gotta prepare for the worst case.... man, I'm just gonna torque that whole leg down before installing it back onto the car. Using a rubber line and flare wrench to hold it down..... but that is kinda tough though. It easier to take it off than torque it down cuz I use an impact wrench for off. To torque I use a torque wrench....

ok, back to the original question.

Do you guys think it was ok for the front bump stop to be SHORTER than rear?

I'd say the front strut is longer as the rear one is just a cartridge and the front isnt, but then again I've never done the front so I wouldn't mark my words..

Remember you dont exactly want to be riding on the bumpstop much anyway. Alot of people actually cut their bumpstops to give themselves more suspension travel. I wouldnt be too concerned with a short(er) bumpstop in the front
