Question for those with the taurus cup and coin holder

For those withe the Taurus cup holders, how did you install. Did you have the radio and cup holder put in first or did u screw the cup holder into the radio trim from the outside and then install. Im curious to know as I have purchased a Taurus cup and coin holder and would like to install. Also did anyone screw the cup holder to the radio through the radio brackets without affecting the trays from sliding out?

Thank you

I took off the plasitic trim unscrewed the old tray and shoved in the new one, no screwing no nothing it was in there plenty tight. But I did take mine out because I discovered with my tilting faceplate I really couldn't use it.

it's really easy to install it if you have non-OE stereo HU. No need to cut, drill, and screw it. Just take the front dash panel off and push it on nice & tight. Screw the front panel back on over it. installation time = 5mins. Done.

I can't remembered the exact year I got but just about everyone of those look identical to the one I had. Just get the cheapest one you can find in case if it doesn't fit, it will not hurt your wallet much.

I haven't discovered anything in my car even resembling a cupholder (until I bought the little door hanging ones).

The stock cup holder sucks as a cup holder, plus if it spills its all over your radio

Germans don't believe in cuphlders (up until recently, no german cars had them, but finally American influence has forced their introduction), and neither do I! If I have a beverage in the car it is in a capped bottle. Concentrate on driving! Did you know it is illegal to talk on the phone or be drinking anything while on the autobahn?

My grandpa's Grand Caravan LITERALLY has more cupholders than passenger capacity. I think it's like 10/7 ratio.

Yea dude those things are insane..I've had a 1989 Grand Voyager and 90 Lumina APV and they had cupholders up the ***!

BTW I actually got McDonalds coffee to fit in the little cup holder on the left since I noticed Chris asked.

I have an idea for cupholders on center console that will take some time to play with but I have more important things going on right now so I cant work on it but as soon as I have free time, I shall develop something nice..assuming its not one of those "bah, I'll do it tomorrow" type of things

Is it flipping up the armrest and cutting a hole with a holesaw and inserting a cupholder from another car?

I think I'm going to try that Ford coin/cup holder combo people are talking about and see how it works.

maybe if you could move the handbrake bracket over to the left a little, and forward a little, you'd have room on the passenger side half of the console to put cupholders. but that might mess up the handbrake, which is slightly more critical than cupholders.

Yeah I definitely should have grabbed my handbrake one time. I had the Understeer To End All Understeers when I turned really sharp under braking to make a street that I kinda missed but tried to turn left onto anyways. I was going dead-straight at full lefthand lock for like 20 feet until my tires dug back in, at which point, I was still at full-lock, and bolted to the left like a madman, and that happened about 5 feet before I would have ended up running the curb and into the street sign.... I was sure i was gonna hit.

Right now, my center console is out, so my handbrake handle and seat cushion make a leaning-tower-of-pisa kind of cupholder-ish thing, but it's kinda very crappy. And there are... "cupholders" in my always-locked passenger side glovebox, but they are about a half an inch deep, and about 100% useless. I bought a window slot hang-on cupholder but it was dumb too and someone stepped on it and broke it anyways.

My 87 Audi Quattro had every perceivable option only becoming options on newer cars nowadays but no cupholders. I guess the Autobahn was not made for people drinking hot coffee, using the cell phone and reading the funnies at the same time. My 91 Mazda 626 had no cupholders either but it was easy to fabricate and modify an after market one. Dont think that I can get around the e-brake on this one. I get queesy thinking about putting something ford in a nice piece of machine. Guess I will have to live without.

Well it'd be hard to fabricate a center console to fit the repositioned handbrake, and still look ... well, not look stupid. And then you'd have to make the cupholder section too. I don't suppose it'd be impossible to move the handbrake a few inches over, but it seems like an awful lot of trouble. I'd rather have my steering column lengthened first, before worrying about cupholders.

It's obvious you haven't seen your glovebox "cupholders" in awhile, they are only about 1 milimeter deep lol. And I bought a 4 pack of the hang-ons just for that occasion.

I guess some people havent looked at it how I've looked at it. I have no plans or thought of moving my ebrake at all, why go through all that trouble for a cup holder? think about it, if you move it a bit further back you'll have more support as the "wall" is higher. Now I havent looked at whats under so I dont know how deep I can 'dig' in there but I'll check it out at the junk yard eventually.

i looked, and as close together as the seats are, it'd be almost impossible. maybe a custom center console could put them side by side, just in front of the ebrake handle's down-positon resting point.
