3rd Gen Car Chase

Anybody see that car chase on the news last night? It was a white 3rd gen looked like an SE. He was going 112 through a state park in California and they clipped him with a bulldozer bucket and sent him in to the rail. Pretty entertaining. I'm trying to find a video of it now.

Here's the video: http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_067163150.html

I was actually impressed with the way he was driving. You usually don't see people make a line through the road like that during car chases. He's lucky he didn't go off that cliff though.

Well apparently he was a 50 year old drug fiend, so probably not. But you never know.

If that had been a VE, he probably would have gotten away.

On a sad note, our cars are now being called old.

"Glendale police began chasing the man about noon when they saw an older-model Nissan Maxima being driven recklessly on the southbound Glendale (2) Freeway at Fletcher Drive, Balian said."

I need to keep it, at least for a while. I am selling my Tundra instead. I bought that in June and have driven it 3000 miles. I thought I would use it more, but I decided I don't really need it and I really don't need to make payments on a truck that mostly sits in front of my house.

I just put on new tires (with some 4th gen SE wheels) and I need to fix the door. I can't open the passenger door and that might make the car a bit difficult to sell.

Wow! It seems they set up that crash though. The first vehicle was very convieniantly placed in the road, as was the second (snow plow). Most interesting chase/crash I ever saw was a Corvette doing well over 100mph in Arizona Desert stretch of highway. Guy slams into a semi and car literally disentegrates around the driver and you see him sliding on his butt for several hundred feet, stops, then leans and falls to his back, un-injured.

Yeah that was pretty trippy! My respect rose for Corvettes...even if they are my favorite

I watched that part where he hit the snow plow like 20 times....and was anyone else curious to see how the Maxima would of help up if it had fallen off the cliff?

... yes. But then it'd be a lot less useful for the Glendale-area ORG members to get parts off of, if it was that much more crushed up. But yes, It would have been interesting to see if the guy lived through a cliffjump.

without the copter and help with side roads, he could have gotten away. GXE's are not bad at handling either. But I too would have liked to see him go over.

That GXE has some squishy suspension, it needed matts anti-sway bars and parallel linkage, some eibach/koni's would've helped too!

The safety features and IRS did the perp well.

Suffice to say a 3rd gen is a man's best partner in crime?

The snow plough was being used for road work, but there is snow in California. Check out Big Bear, CA. Not far away from Los Angeles at all - not bad skiing and snowboarding either... for the desert.

These Maximas can be quite nimble with minor suspension tuning as opposed to the huge crown vics in black and white. Performance wise I would give the edge on Nissan. Clumsy Harleys are no match either. Get me a 3rd gen Maxima...........oh yeah I already own one. If I didn't, I would have seeked one out after watching that.

Yeah man. That was like watching Tokyo Drift. Only.. Maxima style. haha.

That was rather amazing though. To bad he didnt go off the cliff. I wouldnt mind seeing how durable the Maxx is. It would be rather sad though. Oh well, poor Maxx!!

No joke...Besides really, what are the chances of getting away from police in this day and age anyway? I definatly wouldn't try it unless I had an ariel atom or a ridiculously fast bike...

Atom... very cool, but very standout. If any police anywhere saw you in that thing again, they'd suspect you right off. Which means you'd just have to leave them in the dust.. again.
