I hear it at low RPMS, especially when in park...It seems to be RPM generated, though, because the pitch of it will change as the engine is revved slightly. This just started a couple of days ago and is annoying the crap out of me. Anyone have this problem or know of what it is?

I was originally thinking alternator

because what else is RPM related and could make a whining noise? Also just seems like somethign electrical. Is the noise a sign that the alternator is going bad? I wouldn't be too surprised because I do ahve a system and have had issues with RPMS dipping when the bass hits hard at idle. How much is a new alternator? Any chance I can replace this myself?

thanks,
PJ
