Engine cutting out

Looked around for a bit, but didn't find anything similar. Just went on a road trip with the 92 VE5 and after a while the whole engine would cut out for a few seconds, then back on, off, etc. It would rev up fine with no load (clutch in). I would park and cut it off, let it sit for a few minutes, and then it would be fine for a while.

Just by the characteristics, it seems ignition-related; possibly a bad ignitor? It has only done it on a long trip so maybe heat related? I hit 314k on the stock engine and it's still running well otherwise!

Whens the last time you changed your fuel filter? Could also be a old/failing fuel pump.

Could be a bad fuel pump relay. Try switching it with another of the same color and see if the problem follows it.
