Stuck Spark plugs.

In my new VE5 i am doing some preventitive maintinance and i am changing the spark plugs and the rears are all stuck, does anyone have any suggestions about how to go about getting them out without stripping the threads?

i might just spray WD40 down the hole or Alex_V recomended PB blaster, im not sure if thats safe though so im asking for other opinions...

use either one but i would use PB Blaster and just loosen them then tighten and then loosen that way the PB Blaster can work its way down into the threads. the same thing happened to me in my old VG motor and it worked. you might just have alot of dirt in there and it won't let it come out.

how's your tool collection?

Start out with a 3/8 breaker bar

if that doesn't work bump up to a 1/2

if that doesn't work, make sure you're not trying to unbolt it at an angle

if that doesn't work, eat some Wheaties

if that doesn't work, impact

There is a 4th gen I've been eying

but really I would use air tools as a last resort. When you are unscrewing them make sure the extension stays straight and doesn't angle.

When you get them out, buy some sparkplug anti sieze and put it on the threads of each one. I don't have problems pulling mine since I have used it.

Spark plugs

They are easier to remove while the engine is hot. Wait for it to cool before tightening the new plugs. You should still use penetrating oil.

PB Blaster FTMFW!!!!!!!

I had to put a puddle in the spark plug cylinder and soak it for an hour, with 15 min intervals of trying to turn/turning them. Finally got them all out like Alex said and used antisieze on the new plugs but damn the previous owner didnt do **** to take care of this car.

On a side note, the paint is so ****ty on the hood, top of car and trunk that wax wouldn't even take minor imperfections out... o well its a track car, i dont really care...
