Fuel fillup shutoff

I used to be able to insert the fuel nozzle, start pumping at high volume, put the holding latch on and wait by the side till the gas tank was full and the pump shut off. Now, at multiple gas stations, the fuel shuts off as soon as I start pumping at high volume. I have to manually hold the nozzle at low volume to fillup the gas tank. Any one have any ideas on what may be causing this.

It just happens sometime, mine does it rarely. Just try moving the nozzle around and it might fix it.

Could be the vent tube is clogged or crushed. It runs alongside the filler tube and allows air to exit the tank when filling and prevents the gas from "burping" back up the filler neck and shutting off the pump.

If it just happens once or at one gas station it usually means that the nozzles at that station have a hyper active shut off. They can adjust this and some stations are worse than others. I've had it where you have to hold the trigger on the nozzle full time to get any gas in the car, then I had another station that I don't go to anymore where the nozzle wouldn't shut off and would spray your shoes with gasoline every time.
