struts question

Hello! recently my front struts start to squeak, I'm not sure how often it's recommended to replace them, but I've had the Max for about 2 1/2 years now without replacing them and I haven't had any problem untill now.

I've read some threads and I see you recommend the KYB-GR2, some other suggest the Tokico or Koni, but I remember some of you said it's a waste of money going with tokico or koni if I'm not going to lower the car.

My question is what do I need to lower the car besides the struts? the springs only? and about how much is needed for a suspension upgrade like this. I actually don't really know any good brands for springs.

I'm on a budget right now (I'm fixing the CV axles and installing WSP Y-pipe) and I was planning to buy the KYB:

or maybe wait one more week and buy this Tokico:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5483816&rd=1,1
But like I said I'm not sure if it's worth it buying the tokico without lowering the car at this moment (I mean if it's too expensive for me right now)

Suggestions, opinions, advice, all input will be appreciate it. Thanks!

It is not necessary to replace the springs when doing new struts, unless you are going for a different look and/or different handling characteristics..

Kyb's or tokico's will both work fine..Just go with what you can afford...

One more thing...Stay far away from monroe struts,my wifes gxe has them on it..They are very soft/spongy feeling..

Thanks! you are right, people have told me about their bad experiences with monroe and gabriel struts, so I won't put any of those on the Max.
I'm still not sure which ones to buy, KYB or Tokico. I guess the ones I can affprd right now...

For the price, KYB are pretty good stuff. I've had them on a couple of cars, and been plenty happy with their performance.
