Trans trouble?

Trans trouble?
So I rebuild my engine, and put the engine and trans back in (with SOLID poly mounts this time, not just filling the empty space with poly).
Before I put the axles and wheels and exhaust back on, I decided to fire up the engine and make sure I didnt screw anything up. Well the engine runs great but right after I start up the engine (with the shifter in neutral) as soon as I let the clutch out, the speedo jumps up to 15mph. I checked like 80 times that it IS in neutral, and then check the splines in the trans, and sure enough they are spinning. How? If I push the clutch back in, the speedo drops back to zero
I let it run for around 10 minutes, and the speed slowly went down to 2mph or something, but the splines in there are still moving! Will friction overcome this when the axles are in, or is there something seriously wrong here???
Now please understand that Im not a trans noob, I rebuilt this VE trans myself 4 years ago, and I'm almost sure Im the second to do this swap after Kaleb of course. (please chime in old timers if you know someone that did it before him, or 2003) My point is, please only post if you know what you are talking about, Im tired of my threads going way OT. Thanks!

I will go with you and say you are right...there is nothing wrong. With no weight or resistance on the tranny it starts spinning freely from the low amount of rotational force applied.

probably just a side effect of the design of a syncromesh transmission. everything's on bearings, so the friction transmits a little bit through the bearings, probably moreso while the fluid in there is cold. so as the fluid warmed up, the transmission stopped bearing-friction turning as fast.
