If anyone really wants a set of headers its going to cost some big bucks to get made. Given that 99% of VE owners are on stock cams, designing a custom header wouldn't make as much power as it would if the motor was cammed. IMHO if someone wanted to make a header I'd compare the VQ headers to the VE and modify from there. I'm sure that if one used VQ obx headers the header flange will need to be cut off and a new VE one welded on. I'm sure that modifying a VQ header to fit a VE would probably cost $150-400. I believe that a VE with cams that have around 11.5-12mm of lift and 270-275* duration would make for a hot setup. Those and a properly designed header would have a bolt on VE making over 200whp easy.

Heat shield removed from a set of VE exhaust manifolds. Does anyone know if the VG manifolds have similar construction?

Candiman, I believe the VG manifolds are cast iron. Not tubular like the VE versions.

Since I've been driving the maxima I've heard what seems to be, to me, an exhaust leak. A few days ago when I was on the forum I was searching for any aftermarket exhaust for my gxe vg. Not really for performance reasons as for an upgrade over the stock pipe which is leaking. I saw a greddy sp2 cat-back for around $240 that was a single side exhaust. I haven't found the link again, yet. If the leak is a gasket than I think replacing them would be a better idea but just incase the pipe or muffler is leaking I would like to get a replacement like a greddy sp2, sound clips of it sound good. I did some driving on hills yesterday and now the exhaust is a lot louder, but not extremely loud. Anyone have any tips on checking the exhaust for leaks other than seeing a crack or hole in the pipe/muffler?

if it's cold enough out you can get a friend to plug the tailpipe with a big rag while it's running and look to see where the exhaust leaks out.

Ok. The car sits high on the suspension and I think I can get under it, at least from the back to visualy inspect the rear.

ISKY, crower, Schneider Racing, paeco would gladly regrind your stock VE cams to whatever specs you want. All you have to do is contact them and provide the info they need then send a set of cores in to be reground. Cams + big header should equal big power!

The catch is, for real gains heads would have to be flow tested. Nobody's done that.

True but if someone was going to get cams made it would make since to have an extra set of heads to get the cores from. I'd like to see how the VE head compares to the VQ as well.

Yeah, that was my point exactly. Everybody is waiting for someone else to do it, *including* me.

Really, what is the market for this? Maybe 2-3 sets at one specific grind? How many VE intake spacers has Aaron sold? 5? 7? No market for this stuff...

funny thing is we still have 12 guys already chomping at the bit for the VG spacers compared to just a handful of VE guys. Strange, eh? I'd think there'd be moar VE luvin going on.
