Torque converter install help!

Torque converter install help!

So I'm changing the vg motor in my pathfinder and I never installed a torque converter before.

I filled the TC with atf and slide it into the tranny. I had to turn it until it would lock in. My concern is I looked at the FSM again and it said I needed to line up the oil nothces. I didn't pay attention to that when I put it in.

If the TC locked into place did the oil pump just line up? I'm asking because I already set the motor in place I'm not sure if I need to take it out to line that up Or if it fell into place.... Help!

it should probably go into place twice. I know on certain lockup transmissions there is 2 sets of splines on the input shaft and you need both to engage for it to work right. I haven't done one on a pathy so

Yeah, it went in the first and turned freely, then slide into the second and now is tight. Does that mean I don't have to worry about the oil pump?

Bah. I'll just take the motor out again and check .

some converters have slots on the converter hub that engage the pump so it's not a worry. do you have a pic of the converter from the FSM or something?

It has a notch for the pump. I'm ASSUMING that it would line itself up when I turned it to go in.

notice how the pic shows to rotate the converter? that's how it lines up the notchs and pops in
