Muffler

I want to install a new muffler on my 93 SE but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to get a whole new exhaust system becasue I'm on a highschooler's budget, lol, but I do want my car to sound like it's not a stock muffler. :\ I've found some muffler's that are in my price range and such, but they have differnent "input" pipe sizes and I was wondering what the stock pipes on my car are. Thanks

Hmm, I bet a 5.5 Gen Muffler would sound nice. I got a magnaflow 2.25 in, twin tip and it sounds pretty nice... but it isn't resonated so it can get kind of loud sometimes.

loud sound is not a problem, i mean i don't want it to sound like a Harley or anything, but I would like to give it a nice growl. Alot of my friends have civics and integra's and I like the sound some of them get but I also don't want the annoying "ricer" sound like most civics have. I was thinking of a 4 inch out single tip or a dual tip kinda like my stock muffler but with bigger outs. Also, my car is an auto so it has to have a good sound all the time and not just at super high RPMs.

How much was your magnaflow muffler?

I got it for $80 in the org classifieds section, but I think it's like $160 or so regularly... I have some sound clips of it.

Hah, sorry if that's a bit extreme... but I always hate when I'm trying to decide on something and my searching comes up short from lack of input from other people...

I found the magnaflow mufflers on jegs for about 120 dollars. but they come in double wall/single wall and different lengths (i'm guessing tip length?). Should I get a double wall or a single wall and what are the differences? And should I get a 4 inch or 7 inch?

Also a round or oval body?

Sorry so many questions. I just want to make sure I'm getting the right thing

I have a magnaflow single tip, you can hear it in that video thread I had. I'm pretty happy with it.

yup,. so my stock muffler actually cracked (where it was welded on i guess) and broke loose today, so I'm ridin without any muffler as of now lol. It sounds awesome, just annoying when i want it to be quiet... :\

soooooo...

I'm gonna order a new one tomorrow and ive decided that I am going to get the magnaflow 5x8x14 oval single 4" out instead of the one with dual tips, because...actually I have no idea why the single tip lol, but yeah.

Good choice?

How much did you guys pay for a shop to get a cat-back done? I'd like to get an idea of how much it would cost because a cat-back is pricey.

I hate anything with a relatively large opening; looks/sounds ricer to me unless it's a Greddy Cat back system. But hey, it's your car, do what you want with it.

Oh I have the GReddy and LOVE it...hell I should for a $600 system. Guess what happened last week though.... The entire housing is stainless steel, which is great. The way their design works it they have a perforated steel tube that is a custom length for each application to give it's rich tone. Notice I said steel...not stainless steel. They also use steel shavings for packing, which is like what you get when you form a metal part on a lathe....a bunch of little curly metal strips. Well, it's a really innovative design, but the inner perforated pipe SEPARATED from the housing!! F**K!!! Why did this happen, you may ask? Well, anyone with welding experience will tell you that stainless steel is not compatible with regular steel. Welding flux that works with one metal doesn't work well with the other metal...so it's a weak joint. Now all the packing is gone, and I have a pipe rattling around inside my $600 muffler and it sounds like SH*T. It's older than 3 years so no warranty, either. Oh, and they changed their design so now they're fully stainless steel, inside and out. What a load of crap....

Sorry to jack the thread, I just didn't want to make a new one and I had to get that out... I'm pissed. Now I have to cut out the back of the muffler, take out that steel pipe, find a stainless perforated pipe, weld it back in, and find more packing.... How the F am I going to do that?!?! McMaster Carr here I come....

i may be wrong, but i think that a flowmaster would give it a low or deep throaty tone.
