Headlight wire harness **LOW VOLTAGE**????? HELP

ok..this is the issue......Just bought this lovely 94 Max GXE.....the low beam on the right headlight will not turn on......high beams ok...but no low beam....replaced the bulb.....same problem.....i unplugged the bulb and used a tester to check the connections.....my tester turned on when I turned the lights on for low and high beam........I plugged the bulb back in but again same problem....no low beam.........I tried 2 sets of bulbs.....so it is not the bulb.....when I tested the piece that the bulb plugs into it appears to work.....but when bulb is connected....NO LOW BEAM.......CONFUSED YET??? any help??

THANKS

yup, sounds like a bad connection. check to see the actual voltage.
low voltage may light the test light but not the bulb.

they sell a new one? your going to have to work your way up. check relays and fuse if nothing might be a bad combo switch or short somewhere.

My left headlight has a short too but mine is connection issue. The wires shorted and fried the plasic inside the bulb housing so I have to jiggle the wire for it to work at night. Im in process of fixing it though...

ok...found the problem....it's the switch itself....I removed the arm for the headlights/directionals and took it apart......the arm is old and worn and it is an internal mechanical issue.......but when i put it back together my low beams worked!!!!! but now I have only 1 headlight for highbeams.......fine by me until I can replace the part......oh well, can drive at night now without having to worry about the poh-poh.....

thanks for your help!

goodthing about the maximas is that the headlight switch is very easy to replace. some cars are hella hard. u have to pull the airbag, steering wheel, and take apart the column.

yeah I have to replace the switch too, no matter how many time I sanded it down it just get worst. so I finally took out my wad then went for another switch. well now that you got yourself a new switch, you might as well get a nice hid kit to go with it like me. you should be able to get even with those darn suv drivers who blinded you late at night

$150 shipped off ebay with ds2 bulbs. Just be careful when you order the one specifically made for maxima because most of them come with only low beam. I believed they had 9004 ds2 bulbs + kit with both low and high beams out there for the same price. You might want to do a little more homework if you going to do it. I know the low beam only version works for me but it's kinda annoying that it didn't come with a high beam. funny how most people thought I had my high beam on all the time so I always have to explain to them I have no such high beam. oh well

Don't order a hid kit for maxima headlights. make an account on hidplanet.com and research retrofits. and PnP kits on flea bay are go OEM
