tranny removal

tranny removal

my chilton book says to remove my tranny with the engine as a unit.
do i have to do this, or can i drop the trans out through the bottom.

you can separate the trans from the engine and drop it out the bottom without too much trouble

I need to change my trans asap
I found a supposedly low km unit from japan for 600 bucks under 100 K.
I hoping to do it with jack stands and a floor jack.

I replaced mine in my 94' 3 times in 200K mi and never once removed the engine/trans as one piece. Good luck and be careful, make sure you check all your connectors are disconnected (from experience).
