Help with rims please

Ok, I have a 93 Maxima (white in color)
and I am trying to choose between these two types of wheels.
I don't fancy chrome or black..

I have been told that I can put 19's on my car without any probs but
I think it may be best to stick with 18's, what do you guys think?

I am looking at either the ADR spade (in gunmetal)
or the ADR cyhper (in grey or bronze) both at 18 X 7.5 X 5/114.3 (40 offset)
with a 225/18/40 tyre..

I'm not one for aftermarket rims but then again, that's only because mine is a sleeper. Having said that though, the Spades would definitely suit it better ... the chunkier the spokes, the better it matches what is a pretty chunky vehicle.

A friend of mine had the ADR spades on his Talon and the clear coat peeled off really bad in less than a year.

I like the style of them both, but ADR is a fairly low-end wheel. I had a set of ADRs on my car before, but they had no clear coat. Fairly heavy, too.

Cheers, guys..The problem I face is that I am in Australia and the Maxima isn't a popular car as such and finding wheels that fit is a problem...
I was looking at a wheel which has been copied a few times but is hard to get
in my fitment..

It is called Lenso Muse

what do you guys think?
I would like it in a grey colour though...

I am also getting a custom body kit from Japan..
I weighed up the cost of stillen kit with postage and unfotunately it was too expsensive...

Also, I asked about the wings west kit that was available but no there either...

Hehe, what sort of exa (year?) and what is the kit your chasing??
Hmm, I am looking to run those rims (lenso) 19X8 with a 225/40/19 tyre..

Yeap, the maxima shares the ford stud pattern but I found many places didn't have much wheels that were 18 inch or the correct offset thats all..

Bodykit should be on in about 2 months...!!

You should look into the Mustang Cobra rims. They look really good on maximas and arent too expensive here in America...I'm not really sure how rare they are in Australia. And you can get them in black, chrome, silver, and gunmetal or any of those colors witha chrome lip I'm pretty sure.

About that body kit your looking at, do you have any pics or anything of it? I'm in america, But I don't really like the look of the stillen kit, and I might be willing to pay a little more money for the Japanese one...

the only skylines that you would have probs with would be the r31 and r32GTS cos they were all 4x114.4 as far as i know.

Any rims off a turbo skyline should fit, just depends on how much they would stick out. My rims fit nicely in my guards and they would clear the skyline brakes with no issues..

lol just because the bolt pattern is the same doesn't mean they "fit". There are varying sizes and widths of Skyline wheels. Some may be too wide and hit the strut...some may stick out.

I know you said in your post "...just depends on how much they would stick out" but IMO that is not "fitting".

Not flaming you but dont want to get any noobs hopes up that they can just go buy any skyline wheel they want and have them fit...not gonna happen.

lol yer.. i prolly should have mentioned that as well..

there are some that would fit our cars but you would definately want to test fit before purchasing.

maxedj30 > Can we get some info on the custom kit that you are getting.. i would be really interested in one of these if it looked any good and was a decent price

Ok, I will try to get some pics of the kit.. There is no pics of the kit on a maxima as this is a one off kit... I searched through ALL the cefiro A31 kits amnd they didn't suit the maxima at all...( uras/ origin)
I liked the Stillen kit but being a clip on(not a replacement bumper kit) and the shipping was a killer, but understandable though for the fragile parts...

I will try to get some pics when I can. It will cost me $2100 AUS fitted and painted..consisting of front/rear bumper and sideskirts..

I will have a look at the Mustang Cobra rims thanks for the tip..

i beleave with a +35 mm offset and the rim being a 9 inch wide rim i beleave you could fit it with little to spare before shock rub and also sticking out to far. as for bolt patterns i have a chart that my automotive tech teacher gave me of all american cars bolt patterns and the maxima is 5 x 4.5 or as they have said 5 x 114.3

If in Aussie, I'd seriously try to run some of the skyline wheels. I know a guy running the R32 16s I believe. In any size, I think the max offset would be around 30mm and the max width to be 8" "maybe 8.5" if you got the offset at 33mm and you had the right tire. I've run all of these. All had about 30mm offsets, 4x4.5" bolt pattern and were 8" or 8.5" Max tire size I'd do would be a 235 width.

LordRandall has the 16 inch R32 wheels and they look great.

I think after that, the turbo Skylines had staggered set ups. You can also run n/a 300zx wheels or anything Jeff said (from an offset and width point of view) that came off of a 5-lug s14 or whatever Silvias you have in Australia.

Thanks everyone for all your help..
Hey Prophecy99, I really like your car! Sweet!!

The Lenso wheels I saw are only available in 19/8 inches
which sux because they were a good price..

I need to stick to a 18 inch by 7.5 rim to make sure no rubbing and such
and stay with a 225/45/18 tyre..

Shipping from the states is the only hassle really (cost)
but if I can organise say a economy freight with insurance
then perhaps I can go that route..

Thanks again guys!

Its your own personal preference its hard when other people are telling you what to get its all about what you like and not what others think. sometimes you have to go along and make your own decisions i understand you want others opinion but when it comes to liking you have to decide because its your money and your wheels or anything you buy thats for looks. iam not trying to be a jerk or anything but iam just telling you the truth and this what people tell me also. if it were me id go with the Infiniti G35 Wheels around 18" or 19" thats just my personal preference and taste.

The thread title is "Help with rims please" This title tells me he cant decide for himself and want's our help..In your post your tell him to not listen to other people's advice or swayings and make his own choices, which would be great advice for someone that was not asking for help, but this guy was..

and btw..it would help us understand your posts if you use punctuation...

It's all good guys.. I appreciate all the suggestions because this is a forum where you guys have maxima's with mods, wheels ect...
So unlike here in Aus where the maxima isn't a popular street tuner car I turn to you guys and see what wheels, experience with fitment ect you have had...

It's good to see what style of wheels you have on your maxima's cos it then gives me an idea what to look for if I like it...

You are lucky in the fact that your maxima's came out with the later model engine..Ours only came out with the SOHC version for the 3rd gen..And you also got manual transmission...We only got the auto....

My auto died last Nov and I tried getting a gearbox, pedals, clutch and parts from the US but shipping was going to kill me and If by chance any parts were missing/broken I would of been stuffed...Prior to this I had called 37 gearbox builders/engineers(no joke) and asked what gearbox could I use to put into the max but no help...

Thank again guys!

New Mustang GT rims fit on my 90?

My dad has a chance to get a set of 05-07 Mustang GT rims. Will they fit the same as the 01 GT rims?

Nice rims! How did you go with the 8's? No problem with rubbing?
The Murano rims are cool, different slighty to the Aussie spec ones.

I have come across these two rims..

and these

Both running 18X7.5 with a 225/40/18 tyre..

Out of interest does anyone know if the 87-88 maxima that came out with the 2.0 litre v6 turbo engine and manual tranmission..PU-11 Would the gearbox fit my j30 3.0 v6?

Thanks!

If it were me the choice would be clear with the two that you picked. For me I would have to take the RS-GTs.

Those look really nice without being to bling effect and also without being to bland either.

Mate, that is the correct fitment for 18's for your J30 maxima (3rd gen)
I have been told also (by many wheels shops) that the best size (legal) tyre is a 225/18/40 to suit the 18/7.5 rims . Hope that helps..
