Alternator VE/VG

Alternator VE/VG
I'm looking for a new alternator and I was wondering if anyone knows, are the alternators for the VE and VG compatable with each other. I looked it up and it calls for two different part numbers but I'm heading to the junkyard next week and I doubt there's going to be any VE's there. Thanks.

they aren't as different as everyone likes to think.
the physical connector is the same just a different location.
the mounting difference is not much, heck I have one customer that swaps them around all the time (though it is on medium duty trucks)

Nah, I already had to bite the bullet and bought a re-man for $200. That was with my discount too! I was almost debating pulling it apart and fixing it myself, I used to work on them in school but I'm lazy... None the less I have a "lifetime warranty" now. I just hope this alternator lasts longer than my autozone slave cylinder that I have to replace every few months

The trick to those lifetime warranties is that you have to have a replacement alternator on hand while yours gets fixed. Coincidentally mine died yesterday, only to spring back to life later on. Never gave me the usuall battery/brake light though, im having it rebuilt locally tomorrow.

I always get it rebuilt at a local shop near me. They use great materials and Ive never had a problem.
My s10 had a reman'd alt and it sucked. I got rid of it before it had a chance to die again other wise I would have gotten it rebuilt at the shop. Its much cheaper and its more reliable. There really isn't a reason not to do it...
