no power again but its not knock sensor this time

adjusted wrong. completely wrong. was all the way up (retard timing) it is now drivable but still has slight shakes at +3k and 5k. both can overridden by giving it gas but i still don't like that. other than that its a smooth ride

yeah i checked it to see it it was functioning. it is. it was just positioned incorrect. i took my car to a shop for the k/s before i did the bypass but they didn't know what was wrong and i guess they thought it was the cps and tampered with it. with the bypass it ran fine thats y i didn't think it would've been the cps loving it now

First Test Drive Results-----Horrible. Not fuel efficient at all. seems like k's is dead again but without loss of so much power. going to go back to bypass to see if it makes difference.

So,you didn't mess with the cam position sensor at all,the shop did?

How could you have wasted antifreeze?
As long as the coolant is new you can just drain/reuse it...It's not a good idea to run an engine without coolant for any extended period of time..
Also, did you or the shop that did the k/s job mess around/adjust the cam position sensor?

shop adjusted sensor. they didnt do k/s job as they didnt know what was the problem and i got the answer from you guys http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=519920
my radiator seems to have a never ending supply of rust and it seems like it just wont come clean. i have water in it but just for testing

According to a few posts in one of your other theads on this same issue, you said that you "adjusted the cps"
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...4&postcount=59
Then i ask you if you meant the "tps..
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...0&postcount=60
you said "cps"
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...3&postcount=62
I then informed you how adjusting the cps will effect timing..
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...7&postcount=63
Now who "adjusted" the cps?
We can't help you diagnose/fix your car correctly if you don't tell us the whole story on what you have done or not done to the car...Thus the reason this thread has went on for 4 pages now...

i honestly didnt know wtf i was doing. the instructions mentioned something about adjustments to degrees and things. i just marked as it said removed checked and re-aligned with markings. i think the marking are still visible. when i checked the sensor this time it was all the way up.

i found this article and think this may b my problem. is there anyway to correct the timing without the timing light

nah. i have the vtc's grounded. it still has the shake to it and as you said that came from it being unbalanced. cylinders x amount going against y amount. i dont know what could be causing the cylinders to misfire. i have replaced all coils.
#102
The functions of all the ____ position sensors all over the engine are to infom the ECU of the status of things, so that it sends signals to the coils and injectors at the right time. So hypothetically if a specific injector or spark plug end up doing their job later then they are supposed to, that cylinder would make less power. Earlier would constitute a knock.

i also read somewhere that the coolant temp sensor could cause horrible gas mileage. i had corrosion very bad and the connector broke off ( i replaced). does anyone think this could contribute to anything. smoke?
#105
i think its the final. time to go to a shop (that knows what they're doing) its just not right. black smoke returned and 1/4 tank gas disappeared in bout 3-4 miles was at a stop sign went to turn gave it gas and rpm drop and it shot a big cloud of black got off gas and tried light same thing. just giving black then it catches and still rides horribly. its only right at wot if i can get it there and then the gas gas hand thinks its drop zone. i just dont no but it seems as though its something serious. thanx for all the help. i will still read future post. anything more to help will be taken into consideration. thanx in advance
