VG knock sensor

I have 120K on my car with the original knock sensor (VG). Is the KS easily accessible or do I need to remove an engine support to change it.

What makes you think you need to change it?

Good question maxitech I've got a 93 GXE with 130K and have the original KS. The only sensor I've had to replace was the O2 sensor and it made a big difference in fuel mileage. What's your issue?

Preventive maintainence. I read here that about 10K is all the KS is good for and that it rarely throws a code.

If it ain't broke, dont fix it..

VG's do not have a ks issue, they pretty much last the lifetime of the engine..

I had a knock sensor code and one of the EVAP codes in my 96. Replaced the KS, light was off for a while, then came back with only EVAP related codes. Progress.

Knock sensor is practically useless on the VG. Even if it's not working properly it still shouldn't cause you any problems. Just ignore it and move on. Honestly, unless you are boosting your VG or completely ignoring maintenance for years at a time it will never have knocking issues.

The 300ZX's (what I'm primarily into) have them. We consider them useless on N/A's (non-turbo's). My 300ZX N/A hits 6k every day at 211k and I've never had any issues.
