Engine problem, help please.

Today, i was driving on the freeway and out of no where, the engine just die, the car was running perfect one second and the next second quit, not like i shut the car off with the key, the rpm will drop to "0", when it quit, it still show the RPM until i shift it out of the running gear. It happen three more time after that before i got home two on the freeway, one in the city. I have it for more than 4 years and it was the first time it happened. The only thing i did to the car today was to fill it up at the gas station 10 minutes before, if it was fuel related? How? Smooth running engine one second and die the next????
Checked for code after i got home, nothing, only code 55.
Help, any ideas??

May be an electrical problem. check your alternator connections and the alternator itself.

Well, i drove home last night from my parents place last night, it didn't happen once, but it was a scary 20miles of freeway driving, worrying the engine could die any second. Did some searching after i got home, found out may be the power transistor could be the problem, also, the car did feel a little sluggish at low RPM on my way home last night, may be it was just me afraid to push it hard.
If the alternator is bad, wouldn't the car still run for some time before it die.
For the 4-5 times it happened, i was able to restart is almost right away with 2-3 try.
There are nothing under the hood that seem lose including the battery posts.
????

One bad thing about these cars is something can go wrong and no codes or anything to help out.

It seems like probably the most logical things are going to be electronic or fuel related.

These are just guesses, but maybe a connection to one of the sensors or fuel pump is loose. You could also have a bad sensor of some kind or bad coil pack(s).

Good luck, it sounds like a somewhat terrifying problem.

Probably not fuel or charge related, it would struggle first instead of just quitting, and your RPM gauge wouldn’t stay up.

Check the wiring, a semi-loose ground or harness may be the problem. Did you notice if the car went over a bump when this happened? These cars tend to develop cracked solder over time, check the ECU for that.
