I need a new tranny and clutch I think. I was just going to buy a new one for 2600 installed and then thought hey if I am getting the whole tranny and clutch why cant I just have them put a 6 speed tranny in. Can this be done? How about with the 2002 maxima tranny and clutch? Just want to explore my options.

it MIGHT be possible, but it'llbe very $$$ for the tranny.

the problem will be the bolt-holes. you'll have to make sure the bellhousing bolts up the right way, and that the shifter linkage can be made to work with ours.. other than that, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

then of course, you'll have to get mutant axles with 5th gen inner ends and 3rd gen outer ends..
and that's assuming they'll be anywhere near fitting...
make sure the tranny placement is similar to ours, so the axles come out of the tranny in the right place..
and also watch mounting brackets. there will be some custom work there.

If the new 6-speed tranny still has the starter at 12:00, then I think your outa luck. It would probably hit the Thermostat housing or some of the other idle etc.. controls.
