@ Maaco or any other shop, its all going to depend on what you want done -- they can just mask everything off and spray it w/o any dent fixing or much preparation or they can go full out and R&I everything possible, spend lots of time getting the body right, then spraying it -- it all depends on how much you want to spend

But, as most things - generally, you get what you pay for.

Maaco normally does not fix rust and just paints over the existing surface, blemishes and all. You would have to ask them for additional work.

paint job usually go for 1,500 to 2,500 remember that maaco has a one stage or two stage it mean clear and base mixed (1stage)base applied and then clear (2stage) that is criminal to mix paint and clear and spray that trash on to your car ,see you can usally fix clear coat scatches by sanding with 600,1500 sandpaper and buffering or course be very light and staying away from edges.

Oh yeah they now sell dupla color paint shop a no mix reducing paint for your do-it-yourself guy,the best thing is that thier isn't any time window between coats meaning that you can spray primer, base or any coats of clear any time without having a one hour window lets say in between where you have no choice but to spray in those intervals perfect for the project car.

Many manufactures use single stage paints and lots of body shops do.... it just goes back to cost - you get what you pay for and there are many choices out there

single stage, two stage, three stage... all increase in cost and maaco will do basically whatever you ask them to do and are willing to pay for... but they WILL NOT do anything you DIDN'T ask for or is not "included".

and the price range listed is just about right on

what in the world are you talking about...I highly doubt you know what you are saying.

1. it would cost just about as much to mix clear and color together therefore reducing any savings.

2. there are a number of single stage paints out there (SSU-single stage urethane, AE-acrylic enamel, and as afaik there is still lacquer paint on the market though I dont know of anyone who still uses it) that are very cheap so there is no need to mix color and clear (going back to #1).

Now I apologize if you do actually know what you are talking about because I know nothing about Maaco but I dont see anyone mixing color and clear to paint an entire car (though I mix color and clear to paint corners to look like UK corners).

There are two times I know of to mix color and clear when painting a car though...

1. on a two stage paint job you can mix color and clear on the final coat of clear to give the paint job more depth but you dont have any money savings on that...its mostly done on black though might be used on other solid colors.

2. on a SSU paint job some manufactures have a special clear you can mix with it on the final coat of paint to give it more shine...again no savings on this because you have to buy the clear separate which adds cost.

I went to macco and I liked the paint job till now... The paint on my hood had lost its clear coat it seems, it had little egg shell rings all over that you can see in reflection or glare.

This is what my car looked like day I got it back after paint job.
