hi, i just recently installed a new stereo: 1000watt amp, 250watt amp, and a 100watt amp.... i am not sure if it is whether the new box in the trunk probably weights close to 160lbs, or if i do not have enough power now, but my car shifts differently (94 auto gxe). Do you think it is because of the weight or because these amps are drawing too much power from my alternator. I know i am running low on power because i could see my headlights dimming last night while i was driving.

Also i know this isnt really the right board to post on, but if anyone knows anything about stereos could they recommend what is good to do for power (strike caps, alternator rewrapped, aftermarket alternator?.... etc....)

thanks

You don't necessarily need another alternator. Go for an Optima battery in the trunk and a 1f cap to back it up. That would be a good starting point. Um, why 3 amps?

1 amp for each set of speakers.... i already had the two smaller amps from my previous system, and i added on the 1000
