Installing Fog Lights

Ok, When I finally found the wires and prepare everything, I feel so dumb because I wasn't able to install my fog lights this weekend I couldn't believe I didn't find a way to make this fogs fit, my dad keep telling me that those fogs maybe aren't for Maxima, here are the pictures:

As you can see the fog light seems to have a big A$$ which won't let it fit and aim it correctly I can make it fit but the fog light will be aimed all the way up, what am I doing wrong? is the bracket incorrectly installed? or definitely those fogs are non maxima? Am I mising an extension or something? when I bought the car previous owner remove fogs but leave the brackets there and cut the wires terribly I have to add an extension of cable, but it's the first time I'm messing up with this stuff, Thank you guys all input will be greatly appreciate it!

i don't know what the factory fogs look like, so i can't really help you there, but if you took a pic with them installed the best you can, i would be able to tell you what the problem was!

on second thought, maybe you have the brackets backwards? i know the maxima's fogs are supposed to stick out farther, rather than being recessed as you're trying to do.

i hope this helps?

That thought cross my mind, so I tried to install backwards from the way the previous owner left it but it doesn't seem to be ok because the bracket hurts the bumper a little bit. I didn't take a picture with the fog light installed, I actually never put the screws back when I see that the fog light wouldn't fit properly. I was hoping somebody can upload a close-up picture to their fog lights installed so that way I can try to figure it out

Your fog lights might be too large for the bumper, but there are LEFT and RIGHT sides to the brackets. One time I accidentally switched up my stock ones and each was aimed way over to the side.

Ok guys I guess you were right, somehow I just switch the brackets, but before connecting cables and tight the bolts could you let me know if this is the right position for the fog lights on the Max, I mean I look at it and it seem to be not pretty good aimed, please let me know what do you think and how can I improve the aiming if needed, Thanks!

Looks fine now. I had mine shining up in the tree's for a while too before I stopped being lazy and aimed them. Just pull up to a wall at night and aim them down to where they shine about 10 feet in front of the car.

True! they are not OEM but I just bought them on ebay (pretty good deal)because of the brackets which I didn't have, and for the moment they will work, at least I have fog lights now :P so now my job is to look into OEM's or maybe any good/decent upgrade. (I know OEM's are hard to find)

Which ones do you use on your cars? I don't really wanna go roundish or oval, Those aren't really for 3rd gens (IMHO) I really wanna keep the OEM shape and maybe upgrade the bulb, so what do you recommend?

I have PIAA fogs that appear to be stock IMO but those are discontinued, your closest bet is to go with Hella 550, they got either fogs or driving lights for your options. Last time I checked they go for about 90 bucks but I think they're quality fogs. Theres my pic for ya, check my sig.

lol never mind, you cant see them on this pic

All you need to work on now is real lights, make something creative and good looking for the rear. Plenty of crap has been done for front lights on 3rd gen but nothing for the tails. Yawn

haha. rear lights done help you see better:-p not to mention tons of people have retrod their rear ends. i did mine and shaved the center piece and painted it black. some have skyline lights, some have subaru lights (ga ga goooon) so their have been. don't know of anyone that has e36 headlights with TSX projectors as their fogs and FX35 clears as their lowbeams/highbeams in the same headlight. :-D

Well, I'm talking of lights not body work here. Goon and shaved had to do an extensive amount of work to get other cars tails to fit properly. When I mean change something I'm refering to the rear tails. I dont know....perhaps use keep the stock look but add LEDs? something simply like that but yet that give the 3rd gen an elegant refined look.

I recently got an LED strip off a spoiler at the JY and have been playing with it a bit to see how it'd look in the housing, but I'm not quite a fabricator here nor do I have time. You on the other hand claim to always retrofit and change here and there, why dont you give it a shot foo?
